i don't like the idea of being forced nationwide to get it, especially given the rush to create it and how new the idea is but if it's proven, i'd like to think its reasonable to require it for public schoolchildren the same way we're required MMR vaccines and stuff

As a university educated economics major I understand stats and risk, and can critically read titles without freaking out. If you do any research on the fatality rates, demographics and the quality of data collection you likely wouldn't advocate for a vaccine.
Of course you think someone without a flu shot/not wearing a seatbelt is similar to driving drunk so these concepts will be lost on you. You're right though, you're exactly the kind of voter they hope turns up to the polls, a chicken little who regurgitates headlines, holds the exact same opinions the corporate new tells him to verbatim, and does what he is told.
