What’s a good knife sharpener for a beginner? Don’t care about price as much as I care about ease of use and being idiot proof.

I normally send all my knives out to be sharpened and it’s too much of a pain. I want to be able to sharpen my kitchen knives and EDC knives like my benchmades and spydercos.

I was looking at this;

There's a reason I (and anybody else he asked, likely) told him to pull the trigger on it "now". We know how quickly CA an act when it wants to, and we know people are generally unwilling to buy ammo no matter how much they will claim, after the fact, that they wish they would have.

lmao its called being smart i wasn't sitting on anything. it wasn't even a full 24 hours. folks who ordered ammo aren't getting their ammo without background check. Ammo orders have been cancelled or pending until customer sends them FFL address. websites like palmetto already have on their website. They state that you can still get your order, but it goes to FFL and you have to do background check. which negates the ammo order in the first place.

Went to range to shoot some M855 ball I got $90/500 during the Walmart closeout. Wife was shooting her SOLGW/Spike's with my K16i on it while I was shooting my BCM/Spike's with a K18i on it. Also function checked the new QC10 lower on the 9mm.

Just a great day at the range. Felt weird being the only one there with masks. Wife took hers off because it was stupid. No Fudds were present.

I'd posted up some pages from our company calendars from 2019 as targets. Made for a better shooting experience for sure. Strongly recommend keeping your old calendars to use as targets, especially if you have cool ones from work.

I wish I'd put fewer rounds into each hold. I'll have to take the Tikka out with one of the months that has 30 days and shoot the dates out the next time I hit the range.

I went out to shovel in front of my backstop today. Lot of dirt and leaves piled up and I wanted to clear it out to effectively make my backstop higher. I’m so fat and out of shape I was wrecked in like 2 mins.

Ordered that sharpmaker Farley was talking about along with some extra fine stones and a strop. Let’s see if my retarded ass can manage to use it.

Almost ready to order a Kahles K16i. Can’t decide between the SM1 or 3GR reticle. And can’t decide if I want the Larue mount or Scalarworks. The Scalarworks is a lot nicer but also hella expensive. But I feel like if I’m dropping 2k on an optic it’s not worth saving a couple hundred on a mount compared to the one I really want.

Check out ADM

If you want a K16i, I recommend the SI1 or the 3gr.

There's nothing wrong with the SM1, but it's easier to pick up on the chevrons on the SI1.

The 3gr is really hawt.

If most of your shooting is 0-200, get the SM1 or SI1. If you think you're going to set up to take a lot of shots out to 400-600 yds I'd take the 3GR.

Are you wanting to redo an edge entirely every time? You'll grind your knives into shanks.

Really, to keep your knives sharp:

If you practice on angles while sharpening, then you can use a sharpening stone.

My garage is small, and yeah...

Anyway, I don't have a whole lot of room, so a half-rack. Rogue Echo Bar is coming in next week! Titan bumper weights on back-order (hopefully the ship date of 5/6 holds true). Also a 15-lb training bar for the 8-year old.

FUEL (CAP) Rack I snagged off Walmart for $99, free ship.
It's not that bad, and the pull up bar makes a great bike holder!

I also traded 200 rounds of wolf .223 steel for a pair of 45-lbs plates. They were rusted and looked like they were kept outside since... well... Nautilus. I cleaned and reconditioned them.

Nice! I emailed back and forth with Titan CS yesterday and they’re expecting a shipment of bumpers on the 2nd. We’ve got a 15 lb bar coming for my daughter, who has been living with me every 3rd day. I’ve got a pulley system on order and we’re gonna start treadmill shopping soon.

Buncha home gym heads in here.

My setup is pretty limited for weights. Have an adjustable bench, my 90 lb. Powerblocks, and a cheap/lame 1-inch barbell set which was basically for the kids. Only place I could probably put a platform and rack is in the basement, but that would open up a whole can of worms. The floor is engineered structural wood with a crawlspace beneath. If I wanted to put a rack and significant weights in the only place it would really work . . . I'd really want to shore up the joists underneath just to make it really solid. It would be up against a side wall, but right in the middle of the joist expanse.

But I could see possibly chasing that down if this gym situation will continue to suck for a long time. And it could.

Current state of home gym...started with an empty basement 4 weeks ago and my wife's bowflex dumbbells. It's about 50/50 between new and used purchases. Will be putting a power rack on the platform next. Sold one of the benches and have someone coming for the bowflex dumbbells later today. Planning to make a big order with Rep Fitness tomorrow when they reopen for preorders. Gym membership cancelled.

Good looking space. I haven’t been a big fan of my gym since they moved to the new facility. I feel bad for just canceling after 30+ years there, but I’m done. It’s so nice to be able to just walk out into the garage, put on some music and get after it. Never going back.

Anybody have experience with the Griffin 24x1.5 to 5/8x24 adapter for trash can guns?

For night time coyote slaying, I'm planning to do this -

swap booster / muzzle device for a Dead Air Keymo brake, run it suppressed most of the time. It will get either an Aimpoint or Mepro 21, and a PERST laser on an ultimak gas tube for aiming under nods. I'm not a huge fan of AKs but the round works very well out of a short barrel and there's something about these triangle braced models.

That's exactly what it was for me. Liked my gym but started buying stuff when this started to get by. Love the convenience. Walk down to the basement, kill it, then walk back up the stairs for a shower and dinner.
