There is a commercial for Lowe’s home improvement that shows a guy deadlifting a bar in between 2 five gallon buckets filled with cement. Makes me LOL because it’s probably only like 100 lbs.

Thanks! I bought sandpaper so i will smooth it as much as i can.

I ended up using concrete mix since it's stronger than cement. Just add water and you're good to go. Then i put some long steel nails in a # shape in the middle for reinforcement.
The inside of the hole is made of PVC pipe, so the plates don't get damaged when you load em on to a bar or take them off.

Have you thought about transitioning into premium plates like polished concrete? Takes a lot longer to make the plates but you could charge 10x the price for lulz and novelty.

Would look sikh as

Look pretty sweet, but I'd be afraid they'd crack doing anything from the floor. Have you tested them deadlifting?

No idea how to make polished concrete. i have zero tools or machinery. So i don't think i could do it. Would look cool though!

i think i could make concrete dumbbells with some custom pattern inside, since i've seen videos of people making custom kitchen counter tops out of concrete like that.
But i think most people just want temporary weights for the cheapest price possible so they can lift.

I think if you deadlift and do full reps (not dropping them at the top), then they should be completely fine if the floor has a mat. I tried hitting them with a hammer before and i had to use a lot of force just to chip small pieces off.

It's real easy to make. Just mix concrete, weigh it, find a suitable shape to put it in, cut a pvc pipe and place it in the middle, stuff the concrete mix in there and let it dry.
Then paint it black. Print out a font. Laminate the paper. Cut out the letters. Then get a make up sponge and dip it in some white paint and dab it lightly on it to fill the cut out letters.

How did you calibrate the weight and what did you use to make the circle? Did you build something yourself to cast it in? I’m going to do this too, plates are scarce and expensive

Thanks

Looks great. Have you thought about trying plastidip instead of paint? Might make them less prone to cracking if dropped.
