It depends on what state. You essentially need to earn at least 100k to be a home owner in California.

Median income was barely over $31K as of 2017 and that is only considering full time adults working.

Of all wage earners, only 8% made 100K a year or more. A vast majority are over 35. Somehow here on the Misc, guys making 60K a year doing warehouse work and such, seems everyone on here makes bank. If the Misc got a dime for every lie that was told on this forum it would have more revenue than Amazon and Walmart combined. 25 year old consultants and crap.

Guy I know is an electrician and he probably makes it, but I honestly don't know how he does it as far as he just works constantly and doesn't sleep.

At my work, three guys I work with make that, one just got fired, the other basically runs the place so to speak, and the other would make that if he worked a little more but he's comfortable in what he makes. I could make it if I really wanted to and came in and worked bell to bell every day just busting my ass the whole time. Made about 50K last year, probably about 45K but a lot of it had to do with the fact I was also my grandmother's caregiver so I barely kept my full time status and her death has left my kind of out of it and depressed this year but it was well worth it. I hoenstly love my job and it's more than just money to me.

A lot of people who obsess about income are basically giving away how miserable and shallow they are. More won't make you happier. Money is kind of like air, it's not all that important until you aren't getting any.

100k (in the current economy), adjusted for inflation relative to cost of living and goods, isn't the magic bullet you think or were sold. Some make it (100K+), some don't.... but that metric is relative to the geographic region and other micro and macro economic factors, thus bares little significance as a means of measuring success.
















At best, in the most optimal situation for a 100K a year brah, is to live largely below your means for 12-14 years, invest all in index funds to average 4-7% annually and with compound interest acquire at least 1 million in your fund. At such a point, you can begin to draw on interest and not touch principal (a retirement scenario).











Despite all this, where ever you go, there you are. Focus on relationships with others and yourself, never money. It won't make you happy or change anything... don't ask me how I know... take the advice. SRS

Average wages for an architect in the U.K. is 40k, in the US it’s 115k. Wtf man that’s double.

I work in a hospital and I know a lot of young doctors, so a lot.

If you’re not making 100k/year by age 30 it means:

1. You live in a low COL area (think Montana, Wyoming)
2. Your industry doesn’t pay that well
3. You’re not that great at your job


Pick at least two of the three.
All it takes is Mookie Betts, Steph Curry, and Joe Burrow all sitting in the same car in order for one drunk driver to make the world a significantly better place.

We are talking about professionals/white collar workers here. No one else cares about arbitrary salary numbers like these so that discussion is moot. Not surprised you’re still a dunce and couldn’t use context to figure this out either.

100k isn't much. I didn't feel like I was doing alright until I crossed 200k and even then I didn't feel rich just comfortable. Sh*t is expensive now days and I don't even live in the highest cost area.

Some grocery products are probably cheaper here in CAD than USD. Overall things are a bit more expensive for sure, but it’s not 30-40% and it doesn’t change as the currency market values fluctuate. Our economic powers don’t want the CAD to be 1:1 with the USD. China does chit to benefit similarity, and that’s when you hear Trump come down on them for manipulating the value of their currency
