New to the firearms crew. Have a handgun and shotgun, will probably get a rifle that I can hunt with next and then look at an AR lower I can build on after that.

Average American gun owner:
Registration leads to confiscation
brb let me fill out this 4473 (i.e. register first owner)
brb I support universal background checks (i.e. register every subsequent owner, thereby completing registration)
ATF honey pot OP:
How many ARs you got?
Average American gun owner:
Chit loads, let me post a pic.

Whenever a crime with a gun is committed, and they find the gun but not the criminal, the first thing they do is look up records and if there is one (unless it is an old gun) call the gun store holding the 4473 and get the address and phone number of it to contact the person. It isn't tinfoil hat conspiracy, it is routine detective work nowadays.Answers in bold. Anytime there is a thread about this someone pops up worried to death about other people's opsec
