Of course . . . Igmann's margin for error is a lot less than most for appendix carry. Probably still in danger at 3:00.

Compare the 8500 to the 8542 and realize that PSA is selling the 8500 for $50 more than the 8542 was going for.

Also, FINALLY got shipping notice on pmags I ordered 31 days ago. Was going to call for update and possibly cancel yesterday but I forgot. Glad I didn't, but a month is a long time for a company to not at least send an email saying they're working on it. Especially since they charged my card right after I placed the order.

Looking the gun into the holster is the right way to do it. This is like quadruply true with striker carried appendix (no hammer to ride your thumb over)

The argument for the tacticool no look reholster is dumb. If you don't have 1-2 seconds to look down and visually verify the holster mouth and trigger guard are clear, you don't have 1-2 seconds to re-draw either, keep the gun in your hand. Because, like you say, how many people carrying AIWB, training or competing AIWB, it's a lot of opportunity to have that one mistake. And, unlike with hip carry, well, appendix is areally badmuzzle direction

That said, you SHOULD be capable of a no-look reholster, if for no other reason, than you might be somewhere really dark etc etc. So it's a good skill to practice, but AIWB and striker, practicing it unloaded is probably best

Now, if you were a cop, with an all-kydex OWB holster, and you were putting the gun back into the holster while keeping your eyes on a suspect that you're going to close distance with...totally different scenario. As a private citizen carrying concealed you shouldn't really be putting the gun away to approach somebody at all like that, and, an all-kydex OWB duty-style (usually rides even farther away from the body to clear armour etc)...much different muzzle direction and much more margin for error in where you align the muzzle to get it in

I agree, there isn't anything wrong with looking down, it's just not how most schools train.

My other issue w appendix carrying a striker fired pistol is that even if you look down, you could be shaky, vision could be out of whack, you might not be as mechanically sound with your movements. And you very well may just reholster it instinctively without looking down. Just a personal preference, for appendix carry, I'm only doing it with a da/sa pistol, no safety engaged. Decock before reholstering.

I used to think that da/sa pistols were antiquated but totally get it now. When you train with them, learning the 2 different trigger pulls isn't that difficult either.

I'd worry about forgetting to decock. Because, then you might de cock. I just can't imagine AIWB for myself unless it's a hammer fired DAO (or go full OCD and only put the gun into the holster then put the holster on, for super deep concealment NPE situations, not normal daily)

Better really hammer home the training point of dropping the hammer in a safe direction and riding the now-down hammer with your thumb (and take a moment during the process to consciously verify that the hammer is down as you put your thumb over it, before into the holster)

I think the decocking can be learned as a habit as long as you teach yourself to ride the hammer on the reholster.

Theres also a concern that if you do get shot, beat up and your motor functions are shot that you could have difficulty reholstering when you really need to. Most people haven't been in a state of adrenaline to understand how something as basic as reholstering can be difficult under a stressful situation.

I had an LEO tell me that he once responded to a shooting and the ccw holder was so out of it that he put his pistol into his pants pocket, didn't even reholster.

Either way, dao or da/sa for appendix. I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks this way. Everyone's like "nah you'll be fine" and I'm like yeah femoral artery disagrees

Bought an identical clone of my P01 carry gun as a dry fire / practice piece...actually a pretty excellent deal but it has XS big dots on it.

Took about 3 hours of ownership to order another set of Dawson Precisions. Now I'm cutting myself for not just sending it off to get milled for an RMR. Such is life.

that face you make when Ahmaud Arbery gets posthumously convicted of criminal mischief and 2 counts of aggravated assault with intent to do bodily harm, and the two defendants get their charges dropped which spurs massive civil unrest with violence out on the streets with protesters wearing "Justice for TreyVaugn" and "Die Rhodesia" t shirts
