what is it about being a cop that makes you feel that you enforce some greater moral good rather than enforce the laws of your niche municipality. why do you care how cops are treated in minnesota you dont work up there. why you feel your job is some type of brotherhood rather than just punchin a clock.

i am a engineer and i give talks on structural failures- i love snitchin on other engineers.

it seems to me like a lot of cops are indoctrinated para-militaristically and they are unable to maintain some ironic distance to their work live. they feel like soldiers.
Think of the type of personality that is drawn to that line of work and you’ll have your answer

well it wasnt always like this. my grandad was a state trooper after ww2 and his other option was be poor. he beat all this "public servant" shiit into my head when i was a kid and i always thought that sounded right to me, to serve and protect the constituency rather than one's (increasingly physically embarrassing) coworkers.

dave why are a lot of yall fat?

Chicago did the same in 2016 and we had 810 homicides, Mayor was losing his **** over how street stops/traffic stops were down 93%.

Enlighten us guy, African Americans who become police officers, what type of personality do they have? Same with Latinos, Asians, Female.officers, etc.

Whats wrong with police officers being reactive? This way they won't be harassing them. Worked wonders in Baltimore and Chicago.

And sell me on why I would want to open up a business in any of those neighborhoods?

Its not just major chains that are being destroyed. There are a bunch of small business owners that probably wont be opening up again. The lockdown was already stressing their business and now their businesses are looted, and burned to the ground.

These people (looters) are ****ing animals.

there's nothin wrong with it. it means more death and crime, but it also means you fuk up less. you fukin up less is critical. you imagine that you can control murder rates, but you know its a trade off.

a better solution would be indirect (community based) proactive policing, NOT place-paced.

like imagine for a second that you care not about taking a murder rate from 800-600 but you instead care abouthow the people you protect perceive you. imagine what that might do for your effectiveness.

im like a libertarian fwiw, so obviously these are gonna be my ideological contentions.

Perhaps not in that location. The fact is, there are now scores of newly unemployed employees no longer able to pay their bills. Ditto for the Autozone, and all other businesses that were lit up.
Ditto for the poor families living in the low income housing unit that was torched. They are now homeless.

That's a fine theory. I find it a little too convenient. You are attributing motives to a large group of individuals with 0 evidence. But it does fit a certain narrative, so there's that.

Remember this started with one cop that everyone universally agrees phucked up royaly. Now we have people doing backflips to justify putting a city to the torch. It is possible to want the officer prosecuted without condoning the ensuing behavior

I'd collect the insurance money, and never look back. It'll be interesting to see the what the neighborhood looks like 5 years from now.

Reactive officers are seen as lazy, like they don't care about the community. Like when grandma calls on the 10 guys on a corner, and we just drive by them and code the job out.

yea its a trade off and its a hard job, waaaa. i didnt fill out your job application for you. newsflash, americans dont like authority.

each municipality has to painstakingly strike a balance between over and under policing. whats lazy is leadership non havin a hard think about what are some less than invasive ways we can win hearts and minds instead of viewing their communities as sheep that need to be herded.

police too hard and theres some rioting (whats an acceptable amout?) under police and theres 800 murders in chicago. pick your poison people will think you are lazy or people will burn down the police station. or maybe take that community outreach bullshiit a little bit more seriously.

you met some cop when you were a kid who you musta thought was a decent person. extrapolate that- cross up some 10 year old on IG, idk.

The looting and rioting was started by white deplorables astroturfing.

God damn... Black man can't even riot without whitey keeping him down.

I would honestly assume he is a rival business or something trying to get that one store damaged. He seems to have a mission just for that one store.

2 clips of white people damaging property, 500 clips of black people.
Could have been 20 stores he did it to. He's also wearing a P100.

He clearly was a rival business owner and got all dressed up to target that particular store before going home.

This is what happens when these children play in the street. I'm unsure what this assclown thought would happen when he jumped on a moving car.

If I had 6 people attacking my car, I'd do the same thing.

We only see him in that one clip, a group of people were following him. He should be found and prosecuted.

He did not start the looting and rioting, nor did he force anybody to go into the store after broken windows.

Honestly it's a bunch of poor people causing destruction because they want free stuff or are jealous of people that have stuff. I highly doubt anybody with money from any race was down there looting and setting stuff on fire.

Poor people.

He shouldn't have served into him when he had a path of exit. I would've just floored it as soon as people got in front of my vehicle.

It happened to me in DC once, I floored it and they moved. I think they were trying to carjack me.

Black people having a peaceful sit in while white folks burning down police stations and stealing TVs
Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

Perhaps him and his buddies did all the breaking of the windows etc. Working under that hypothetical, do you really think that doesn't qualify as starting a riot/looting just because people have to go inside the open windows to steal?

Anyone else amused at how the misc was all in agreement over the police brutality 2 days ago, and we still managed to end up at each others' throats?

I think the looting and rioting began before this autozone incident. Therefore this one person did not "start" it.

They should be prosecuted and forced to pay for the damage, along with anybody who stole.

This was exactly the intent of the astroturfing RW groups that seeded the riots. They were losing the national argument and needed a riot to mitigate their losses.

You're blaming this on RW astroturfers?

Why not blame each individual person who actually did it?
