If you folks think blacks were always peace protestors and docile negros asking white folks for freedom let me put you on some literature.

If statistically speaking, you’re more likely to be shot by police if you’re a white person, and yet the narrative around the country is that black people are constant victims of police violence then it’s clear the media is to blame.

Calling the protesters "thugs" doesn't help his cause. As a leader he should be diplomatic.

Meanwhile a few weeks protesters stormed the Michigan Capitol with guns to intimidate legislators and Trump praised him.

I don't do Trump bashing or any of that but he could have been more diplomatic in this situation and won some support.

I don't encourage the looting and chit BTW
you mean protestors who showed up peacfully at the capital building and caused zero harm. come on man lol.

that vs burning down police buildings, looting businesses, and literally stoning people to death.

give me a break.

There was certainly violence and the threat of it during the Civil Rights Movement but non-violence in the face of an oppressor and kumbaya BS satiates white ego and is more palatable to them.

Even MLK towards the end was sounding more like Martin.
MLK sounding more like Malcom or Malcom sounding more like Martin?

Maybe the police haven’t done a good job as a whole but the media has exacerbated these bad instances to a point that it creates far worse division than need be.

I understand as a white guy who maybe doesnt even interact with many black people you dont understand this. It doesnt have to be a law dude, its the reality that there are many white people who are still racist who permeate society and treat us as lesser and make it harder for us.

I don’t even disagree with your statement man. Relax.

But like the guy said below when there is the 1% doing very bad things that ruin lives, the goods ones don’t report it or pretend it doesn’t happen because when they speak up, they ruin their own careers. I don’t know how to solve that, but it’s gotta be done.

And it’s not even a racial thing for me, I’m white and the cops still treated me like a criminal and I called for help. Can’t imagine it would have been any better if I was black.

Anyways the point is, what is the solution here? No change required? Go back to life as normal?

Not falling for that strawman. I never said black people dont committ legitimate crime, and it is a problem.

Whenever this conversation takes a turn white people dont like, they bring up unrelated issues to deflect. Not falling for it.

It's more racial bias than anything. Even in a liberal area this occurs so I don't think people should be deluded per my previous thread that racism is just a Southern thing. There's also school systems that are not well funded which generally Black and Brown kids are in. This isn't a racial thing but economic which I've tended to stress that if black folks want to curb some of these problems is to do engage group economics.

Housing discrimination based on race is still prevalent. I have had good experiences with cops and law enforcement like I said but I also am not the type to give them a reason to stop me. Clean record 20+ years as an adult.

I grew up pretty "privileged" so to speak but I know my parents experienced racism. My father even filed an EEOC complaint against a former employer due and won a settlement also.

The difference is that racism towards blacks is based in white supremacy and the historical idea that blacks are inferior.

And then yes blacks can be racist in return, but its a response. Its not based on an inherent hatred of whites or anything.

Get over it

Everyone constantly judges everyone in life. Whether it's skin color, weight, hair color, job, income level, their car

All of these things make the person on the receiving end feel "lesser"

Unless you can point to a specific law or person that is actively oppressing you, you need to get over it. Seriously. The main thing holding blacks back in this day and age is this ****gy attitude and cultural problems.

I'm not saying it's easy. I'm not saying it's fair.

I’ve had two bad instances with police.

One time when I was younger I was switching lanes between a lot of cars, not even going over the speed limit and a cop pulled me over, made me take a breathalyzer test at 11am, wouldn’t let me leave for the longest time because he suspected I was under the influence of something. I wasn’t.

Another time I was accused of theft by a drunk girl at a bar. She was drunk and lost her wallet but i happened to be dancing with her at some point. Some manlet cop spent the whole ordeal talking sh*t to me and even went out of his way when they realized I didn’t steal sh*t to come back and taunt me. The rest of the officers there were polite and respectful.

I’m white. After those interactions I assumed those cops were just *******s. Now if I were black and dealt with those same interactions would my assumption be that it was systemic racism? And if that’s what I would have thought if I were black, would that make it a correct assumption?

That’s a problem I have. Black people are conditioned to believe that when sh*tty people are sh*tty to them it’s due to racism.
Horny.

You wouldn't need any evidence to prove the intent was racism, you would just know, because slavery. I think I'm doing it right.

So whew 2 things here

1. The standard to complain about racism in your mind has to be a law in the books explicitly discriminating against blacks, or a specific person who is so overtly racist like a klan member discriminating openly? This is why the country is burning down, and unless people are more willing to listen than you, it will continue.

2. Another classic deflection. "but but but but what about all these other problems". I agree about the other problems. They exist. But they arent the problem we are discussing.

How many news outlets cared about any of these black peoples.

Don't get me wrong. What happened to George Floyd was wrong but in no way does that dictate or show that racism is prevalent in the US.

34 unarmed whites were killed by police. 6 unarmed blacks killed by police. Guess which stories were covered in the media.

If I made a list of the top 100 problems that the black community in the US is facing it would look like this:

1. Father Absence
2. Education
3. Blacks committing crimes
4. Gangs
5. Black on Black crime

Statistically speaking cops killing black people has little to no effect on the success and issues that blacks are facing in america.

If they all gathered their attention from these garbage BLM and cops killing blacks to forcing families and fathers to stick together poverty and crime and incarcerated blacks would DRASTICALLY decrease.

It really depends on the interaction honestly and this is a case by case basis.

For ME I wouldn't take every instance as cops being racist. My parents and I lived in an affluent neighborhood for a while and my dad had a nice corvette. Dude was a big car buff. Anyway he got stopped several times but was never given a ticket for it. This was a majorly white neighborhood. Was this because he was a black guy in a nice car or was he legitimately speeding? There's some gray areas.

I'm not one to assume everything is racist either or point towards that so I see your point. I've also had a white friend of mine in Georgia got a gun pulled on him when he was doing private investigator work by mandate of the court so it was like WTF. I know this **** happens to white people too.

What evidence do you expect there to be? You people want to ignore race and pretend it isnt a factor unless the dude is a known klan memeber or something.

You people want us to look at the same things that were happening in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, but conclude magically the reasons for it have changed. They havent changed.
