The only countryies that have a contention for being on par are Switzerland and Japan. I'd say both of those are actually providing a better standard overall actually.

In before London, Sydney, other expensive places. Of course you can live well anywhere if you're rich, I meant overall I'd rather be in the US and would only seriously consider the two nations mentioned above.

Why anyone would choose to be a minority is beyond me.

You walk down the street, everyone you see is of a different race. The buildings, the cars - its all different. Back in my home country(CHYNA) I can sleeps on the street like a bum and still feel at home. The first thing I did when I visited the mother land, I got off the plane, found the nearest patch of dirt and smeared it across my face.

The very ground that I stand on in the states, it doesn't feel like mines. But with America its a bit more diverse so its not as bad if it were in more homogeneous countries.

Here in the USA we get this notion of immigration as something that's easy and accessible to anyone - maybe because illegal immigration into the country is often mentioned in the news. In reality, every country on earth has stricter immigration laws (and enforcement of said laws) than the USA. Unless you have "mega super high in demand" skill, like being a cardiologist, or have a job that moves you, or are married/have family ties to a foreigner, your chances are virtually nil. May as well save up and apply for a retirement visa in 40 years.
