This has nothing to do with stopping violence. It's about nullifying order and sowing discontent in the population.

It's about causing violence.
Also this. Things have been trending in the right direction for years, but we all of a sudden have a guy on ******** coupled with sh!tty cops resulting in one death and they try to burn the count down. Now, I’m all for having the guy on his neck charged, but the response has been absolutely absurd. We can always try to make things better, and guess what?? Things are getting better. No system is perfect but crime rates have been down and police brutality has been down. The odds of being an unarmed person getting killed by the police are practically non-existent. Again we need to always strive to improve all of our systems, but the white guilt/racism angle leading to the sh!t we see today is completely uncalled for only increasing the suffering.

Stupid demands are stupid.

How about we stop glorifying violence?
How about we stop glorifying crime?
How about we stop committing crime and violence?
How about we lose the attitude every time we encounter police?
How about we follow clear instructions instead of arguing?
How about we understand the other sides point of view?
How about we stop buying into the media lies and hysteria?
How about we look at the facts instead of finding false talking points to use as emotional crutches?
How about we be good people and treat each other with respect?
How about we learn to take responsibility for our actions?

Can't shoot at a moving vehicle? What if there's a psycho in a vehicle barreling towards a crowd?

How many alternatives can be exhausted in the time it takes here before you're skewered?

I’m tempted to just say fukk it support letting the police leave that area for five years while they deal with the aftermath, but it wouldn’t be fair to all the people there who actually have sense. Everyone needs to be careful not to develop world views based on thoughts and actions of the vocal idiots.

How about they just start teaching kids in school about police protocols, I.E. how to conduct yourself when being questioned by a police officer.

Spend money on a public education campaign to inform those without common sense that you can't just mouth off at an officer/keep your hands hidden/or advance towards them without being told to do so.

Everybody wants police reform. Nobody wants to throw an extra 3-5 million per year of tax dollars for every 100 existing officers. So a place with 200 officer's needs more like 6-10 million more per year, etc. Training, equipment and manpower is super expensive for policing.
Police get paid very well. They have some of the best pension contracts for any profession. Police ultimately need to take the hit. Below are examples of cops salaries/benefits in California. Cops are making more than lawyers and doctors already after a few years experience.

This post is fine and everything, but I do think that the majority of people agree that policies currently in place regarding police need to be altered. Something that benefits the entire community. Some good ideas I've heard from multiple fronts, even that national registry comment, that I feel should be seriously considered

Yep. And a lot of places have to beg to continue to get funding. For the most part LEO's don't even consistently get a 2% yearly cost of living raise which is what they are always begging for. Nobody wants to volunteer millions of dollars per year added to the budget to address the problems in policing.

BRB errabody wanna demand change in policing. Nobody has realistic and achievable ways of hiring more professional, higher trained people.

They get paid well in California, where cost of living and tax is insane. In a lot of places the average starting police wage is under 40K per year. BRB good luck hiring elite Navy SEAL, college educated, use of force masters.

It's not gonna do anything because it's not racial

You're forgetting a lot of these liberal hellholes where crime is through the roof have an up to 50% or more minority presence in the police force

Right, like I said we should always strive to make things better. That’s what humans do. However, we need to also realize that no system is perfect. I also think there should be a balance since we are such visual creatures. Show lots of videos showing cops being attacked or even killed if we’re going to show the bad cops. Last week a white police officer was killed by a black guy but no one seems to give a sh!t. And I don’t care about the race...it isn’t about race. Show white people showing black cops or black people killing black cops or black people killing white cops. It’s easy to sit back and criticize because you saw a video of a single police officer(and yes I agree plenty deserve criticism). However, the fact that there are hundreds of millions of interactions with police officers and and incredibly small number unarmed civilian deaths at their hands means its a pretty good system. And the outrage over it is entirely disproportionate. There is a laundry list of issues that affect society negatively more than police, and with police you can easily say their impact is more positive than negative. But for some reason every once in a while they get all the hate. It’s completely illogical.

Meh. Here's my list -

1. Mandatory Bodycams with camera on for every interaction.
2. Federal oversight committee to evaluate serious events.
3. Total criminal justice reform. Stop jailing people for nonviolent offenses. If you get caught with certain drugs you go to a mental health facility. If you steal you have to work it off. Also let's get rid of useless charges that only serve as a means to harass people. Ie - open container, selling loose cigarettes, obstructing pedestrian traffic (standing on a sidewalk lol)

Funny how blacks are the only demographic that is overwhelmingly affected by “police brutality” and “racial profiling” asians, indians, Europeans and Latino’s don’t seem to have a problem outside of a few instances.

Chinese people have historically been discriminated against and used as slave labor to build infrastructure. Don’t see them complaining about police brutality.

But hey its definitely police that are the problem

I truly had been hoping for some useful ideas. This isn't it.
They aren't very bright, no police department in the country would agree to those because they pretty much exist already. Seriously? If there is an active shooter they want the cops to use their pepper spray first? Pepper spray isn't a weapon, its a spice you put on eggs.

I hope Seattle does this. Would be nice for 1 super liberal city to take on the experiment of having little to no police force and see how it turns out. I would imagine very badly, but someone has to be the example for others to know not to follow.

How high should the standards be raised? And raising the standards will piss off the reverends and the alderman, they'll accuse the high standards of being racist.

How high should the standards be to become a cop in Detroit for example?

Well... I agree police brutality is a problem.

I disagree that it is a racial problem.
1) As the proportion of Black or Hispanic officers in a FOIS increases, a person shot is more likely to be Black or Hispanic than White, a disparity explained by county demographics; 2) race-specific county-level violent crime strongly predicts the race of the civilian shot; and 3) although we find no overall evidence of anti-Black or anti-Hispanic disparities in fatal shootings, when focusing on different subtypes of shootings (e.g., unarmed shootings or “suicide by cop”), data are too uncertain to draw firm conclusions. We highlight the need to enforce federal policies that record both officer and civilian information in FOIS.
Excerpt from very interesting study, one of the only ones thoroughly defended out there. I found this after finding information that contradicts my former opinions (that police DOES kill people of color at a higher rate). They looked it at from many different angles and with existing data concluded no evidence of racial disparities. Racial disparity is NOT the same as racial bias.

the big one is those other minority groups aren't a big enough bloc to be useful politically, so they focus on themselves while the democrats are constantly pandering to black people and shoveling the victim narrative. the economic situation of inner-city blacks can be directly traced back to democrat race-pandering policies. section8, affirmative action, welfare, have done wonders to keep blacks poor and uneducated. All these things the other minority groups rarely benefit from.
