Here's my idea:

Make conceal carrying a handgun mandatory/easier for all adults.
Abolish patrol units.
Privatize traffic enforcement.
Keep detectives and tactical teams.

I really like this idea. A very quick and simple solution to stop many police shootings, or uses of force at all for that matter. Doesn't matter what race the person is, but if more people did this, you would see a drastic reduction in uses of force. Guaranteed.

One thing that'll solve 90% of these issues is to reform the unions. Goes for all public employees (teachers, firefighters, garbage workers, etc). They are practically unfireable and discipline is a slap on the wrist-and comes with backpay if they get suspended or fired. See the Parkland, FL cop who ran and hid during the active shooting-anr got his fukking job back:

When the entirety of modern culture in American society glorifies rap music that proliferates a message of doing drugs, shooting people, and just being a scumbag in general.

It’s easy to see people in general these days lack the respect for any show of authority.

Everyone wants to feel like they stick it to the man, that’s how it’s always been. But the difference these days is that it’s crossed a threshold that has been pretty much unprecedented in all of history.
No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

Proactive officers in my city almost weekly stop convicted felons illegally possessing guns and also having illicit narcotics.

These people would otherwise not have been encountered unless officers were being proactive. This is a horrible idea

As am I, in fact I was fired and my union was able to reinstate me, lol. I'm a lowly warehouse picker tho, and am not on the government payroll. Unions need to have a bright spotlight shined on them tho. No matter what a police chief, mayor, or bunch of citizens want, they gotta go through the union to get it done. And a union that will defend bad cops, teachers, or other public employees is NOT in the best interest of the people. This needs to be recognized, and they will do everything in their power to hide that fact.

Can confirm my record was squeaky clean, any discrepancies in work history and casual drug use forget about any chance. I don’t think a college education is completely necessary now that I’m familiar with police work, but it’s certainly a plus.

We’re not lawyers or prosecutors, we have to mediate public conflicts and confront violent people. We have to make split second decisions that can completely fukk us over if we’re not careful. There’s a a rudimentary understanding of law that needs to be understood so you don’t violate people’s rights but the measure of a good police officer comes down to ethical decisions and street smarts.

A coworker tried being a cop, has everything in line and every time I ask him about getting in he's like "There's another thing I gotta go through" and by the time most of his chits done his physical is expired and he has to go through that again lol. I don't think he's gonna make it, he's failed a test or two twice, which is why it's taken so long, but yeah becoming a cop is not an easy process.

A combination of both, plus they usually want to see a steady history of employment as well. Candidates that frequently bounce between different jobs after short periods of time don’t look ideal on paper.

These blue-haired SJW ****s need to leave law enforcement to the professionals. It baffles me how little people know about law enforcement and that they think half these ideas are even plausible.

I'm for the LEO court-martial system and a national registry for certain misconduct issues, though.

Easier yes. Mandatory no. lol. I've been in CCW renewal classes that actually involved drawing from concealment. Even now half the people who carry never practice and are a danger to themselves.

Detroit should know that better than I will. To me, 6 months is not enough training to become a cop. It takes 3 years to be a lawyer and there is no shortage of lawyers. People will become cops because it will carry more prestige and honor. You will be working with only people that exhibit high values. The benefits of being a cop will remain. They still will have great pensions and benefits. They need to spend more time in the communities and have more sporting events where they can interact with the youth. I know they already have that, but it needs to be instilled on a wider level.

Mandatory bodycams would solve this whole damn thing. Penalize when they're conveniently turned off. I know that cops probably won't like it, but I can't think of a more constructive idea, and no idea isn't an option because the US is going to be required to give into the demands of these domestic terrorists.
