The war wasnt over slavery. 5 of the northern states had slavery. The southern states were offered the chance to avoid war and keep slavery with the Corwin Amendment. They didnt ratify the amendment. The war literally started at fort Sumter where the tariffs were paid and taken from the south. The south was fighting in defense of an invasion and to prevent their cities from being burned to the ground. General Lee gave the slaves he inherited free. general Lee is the reason why richmond and other cities werent burned to the ground. Trans atlantic slave trade was ended by jefferson. Jefferson asked for the end of the importation of slaves in his 1806 state of union address and it ended in 1808. Slavery could have ended without a war. England ended slavery without a war. Their government paid slave owners to give slaves freedom.

But seriously, how would you feel if there was a group that wanted to make it legal to rape, kill and enslave white people and then people who fought for their right to do so were given statues? Id find it pretty fuked up

“I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races,” he began, going on to say that he opposed blacks having the right to vote, to serve on juries, to hold office and to intermarry with whites.

I'm against and am disgusted by the looting and destruction of the cities. But I would never wish this type of injury or death on anyone. Liberal, conservative, moderate... it doesn't matter. Wish they just gave him some time in jail or a fine or something.
They think what they are doing is right and have a cause. I'm sure there's stuff that other people feel strongly about and disagree with you on. Does that mean you deserve to this type injury? No...

Head injuries are no joke. He might be stable, but if he wakes up his quality of life afterwards might be forever changed.

Love how that statue is surrounded by the modern world now. Doesn't even stick out like a sore thumb. That piece of history belongs there.
Test levels up now.

The BLM protestors say this is evidence of the racist nature of the statues but honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a coincidence in a lot of cases. Whether it’s a statue or a whipping post, I’d imagine people would have wanted to put them in the “town square” or wherever the most prominent place in the city was located so it makes sense to me that both would end up in the same location over time. That looked like a great location too. I graduated from James Madison University in VA with a Masters Degree 5 year plan. James Madison owned slaves. If anyone tried to take down the statue of him which is standing on our campus, they will have to take it down over my dead body.
