It goes both ways.

Cops arrest and charge people wrongly all the time.

Can you see how moronic that statement sounds?

Should cops wait to see if the weapon is shot now by these upstanding citizens?

From what I saw, it looked like he attempted to discharge it. The AFID confetti visibly went off. Based on that, I have very few questions about the shooting itself, and even pointing a weapon at somebody is a severe escalation - including when LEOs do it. Not about to get mad holding that guy to a standard I wouldn't hold a civilian to.

I'm basically just holding to see if there are additional underlying facts in the complaint, since there are a bunch of charges there and they went with felony murder. The picture of him kicking the guy definitely came as a surprise, as did the three bystanders claiming they were in his line of fire and that he hit one of their cars. There may be other surprises

It’s confirmed that the taser was shot by Brooks.

imagine you and your buddy getting disarmed by a drunk (and probably high) criminal and then him torching you in a footrace and then using your service weapon to do murder on somebody.

you should get fired off top if youre a cop and you are disarmed. why are the physical training regs so absolute dogchit?

im a engineer i do a 14 min 2 mile off the couch any given day, i couldnt live with myself otherwise. how can you enforce laws if you cant secure your weapons?

The issue with cops using deadly force is a secondary issue right now.

The 2nd civil war has started. We have an active marxist insurgency underway in the country and we can't have cops just abandoning cities to be looted and burned.

The last 3 weeks have been our "John Brown's Raid" moment. There really isn't any going back now. The democRATS can't or won't reel in the marxist BLM and antifa thugs on the streets, a whole swath of wrongly educated millennials and generation tidepod kids from suburbia are in full agreement with BLM because they've been taught since they were little that America is fundamentally racist & evil (spoiler - it's not!), and internet tech and media companies are stoking the flames of passion of the mob.

Get some guns and ammo if you don't already have some. If the mob shows up at your door, don't expect the cops to help. 100% srs.

One cop said "ive been working for 20 years and never seen that" all because some small dick **** had a vendetta against me.

in ATL, after work me and a couple of my coworkers were drinking and smoking a blunt, he came up to us to talk to us about a girl we knew, we put the blunt out, kept drinking, he didn't say anything. Now if we were ignorant *******s im sure he woulda given us a ticket.

I've been arrested twice, never resisted so never faced consequences like these people. it's pretty simple.

That is the million dollar question, now. We're in a state of society where too many people think "anything goes" and that one "has a right to resist arrest" - where resist includes "debate".

So a cop sees me looting from a shop and tackles me - making my boxes of shoes fall. As I'm getting arrested I start resisting and yell "I didn't do anything! I didn't do anything! Why am I being arrested!" and everyone around me supports me (clown world in that context).

What is a cop to do? In no NATO/G20 jurisdiction on this planet does the average citizen feel such a wild need to "fu*k the police". Yet here, at least in parts of the U.S, this sentiment is being increasingly fostered.

It is a very sinister move and something entirely different from "accountability". Everyone should be held accountable for their actions in accordance with the law. But the very notion that law enforcement officials should be serially treated with disdain/attacked/resisted is just a symptom of the sinister moves I refer to here and in other posts.

I dont think it was well known about the situation of the cops for anything big to happen. if it happens again tonight more info and awareness will be had. Once it starts spreading on social media and it is confirmed by the locals up to no good then chit will go down.

Their response to crimes that happen is reactive, but their presence alone prevents crime before it ever happens. Hard to measure the exact amount, but if Atlanta crime rates spike because of no police, then you can argue the police force existing and patrolling is a preventative measure to crime.

I think we need to stop being told we are so helpless and we don't know any better so they can force a police regime onto us. We have the right to bare arms which many places don't and we can use that right to take accountability for our own safety and protect and stop ourselves from being victimized. I believe once that starts happening crime will go down because being arrested knowing that they can get away with it because you're defensively is the least of their concerns. True, Real.

Criminals are predatory and opportunists if you can show them they ain't gonna have their way with you I think they'd start thinking twice about pulling that type of none sense. Good job being a pseudo intellectual and building your argument on name calling instead of articulate points I see you got rustled and negged me too. Most suck to lose an argument before it even started. You're playing with 4 pieces puzzles and I am playing holographic 4k 3d dolby atoms chess on the space station with elon musk
Scenario A: Bad guy commits crime. Bad guy gets caught via police investigation. Bad guy goes to prison.

Scenario B: Bad guy commits crime. Police do nothing because reactionary policing doesn't count. Bad guy continues to commit crimes with impunity.

Which scenario is preferable?

That's awful.

I read that the Atlanta DA held a controversial press conference the other day. That along with other events likely has the police in Atlanta greatly concerned.

Why are you making assumptions when there are two videos online showing that the deceased suspect resisted arrest, assaulted one of the LEO's, stole his taser, ran away and attempted to hit one of the LEO's by firing the taser?
I understand that we all don't have endless hours to follow these innumerable cases, but if you are going to make such a brash statement, at least take the time to become reasonably educated on the evidence available.

The rape, murder, robbery, and violent crime rates skyrocketed. Took years for them to get any cops back in serious numbers. I guess all those white supremecists doing all of that crime there made it difficult to speak out, less they be done for snitching.
