For the cuck who was banging on about Carlin Isles. For what it's worth Augustine Pulu is a C/D Tier halfback (smallest guy on the team).

Anyway nobody takes sevens seriously except USA and Fiji. Most players don't make themselves available because they forfeit their spot in the 15 aside squad.
There isn't a single rugby player in the world who could even play in the XFL. Let that sink in.

Post 123. There’s barely a single cut football player, college or nfl, that is in any demand at all by even a z grade pro rugby team. Why do you think that is?

But why wouldn't elite Rugby players switch to the NFL. Wo they can make 5-10X more money then what they earn playing Rugby?

Probably because there isn't a single rugby player in the world who has heard of the XFL lmfao.

In Rugby the defensive line isn't staggered due to obstruction. You have to beat 4 guys to make 10 meters (like 8 yards or w/e bull**** system ameribrahs use.) on your own. Top end speed over 40 yards isn't worth jack ****.

Rugby league is closer in style to the nfl, and has always paid its players. Rugby union is historically an amateur game, but is far more popular and always attracted the better athletes.. go figure.

You see the problem is Americans are arguing in this thread about a sport they know nothing about, whereas every non American here does understand the nfl.

It’s assinine to claim rugby players should just go and earn more money elsewhere, when they’ve had that opportunity in rugby league for 80 years, and didn’t.

Brah the "all blacks" would end up in the hospital if they ever had to go against American blacks in any contact sport. That's not a knock on the rugby as a sport, it's just tiny athletic talent pool vs. big one.

Ball in play 35 minutes over an 80 minute game vs 11 minutes over 3-4 hours?

Looking like a bodybuilder isn't an indicator of raw athleticism when you gas walking up a flight of stairs.

Here's a lock: 6'7 @ 250lbs leaping over a player while catching one handed. Ignore the music idk wtf that's about lol.

Union is tough, but League is rougher, 3 man tackles permitted.

no pads, no helmets

take this kunt for example, in his prime 115kg (250 lbs for the yanks) 6,5

anyone would chit themselves seeing this kunt run at them full speed.

No one has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training.
It is a disgrace for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

Guy, the average college lineman in the US FBS (what you see on TV) is 6'4" 306. And they run a 4.8 40 yard dash. That's not even getting into professional level.

The average pro rugby player is 6'2" 216. Rugby players don't train for explosive speed as intensely as the NFL so are slower.

NFL players see bigger guys run at them faster every play. Rugby is a great sport, but the pay differential means the NFL will get the best.

False. Tons of young rugby players are recruited to play football, but only the athletic ones. Source: I played and roomed with a former rugby brah who was one of the top rugby talents as a kid before they switched him to line. He said dozens of colleges in the US sent scouts to poach all the best young rugby brahs starting in the 90's. There's no secret talent pool of athletes who for some reason don't want to make millions playing football or at least a college scholarship.

If you play rugby and don't get picked up to play football, it's because you're not athletic enough. Full stop.

Hold on, you’ve been telling us all, endlessly, that rugger players can’t hack it in the nfl.. why bother scouting them then?

Go look at any roster from a west coast college team and you'll likely find at least 2-3 guys who are converted rugby players. There are a handful in the NFL. Sidenote: I once saw Hiloti Ngata almost rip a basketball hoop off the gym wall when he dunked it. Real athlete right there, which is why he made it in football and insta-gave up rugby when BYU/Oregon came calling.

Point being, they take all the best athletes and convert them at 14-15 years old (because $$$$). Top level athletes don't keep playing rugby (just like soccer, you stop playing when you get old enough). The only guys playing pro rugby are leftovers who couldn't even make it to college football.

Oh because it’s odd, you see, because 5 mins ago you were telling us it was the AMERICAN pool of talent that was just so vastly superior..

Firstly, both rugby players, and college/nfl players would happily run into each other at full speed with or without gear.

Secondly, NFL players would shed some explosiveness to gain cardio if they played rugby. But rugby players would also need to develop explosiveness to go the other way.

Last, NFL players are already filtered through 3 systems - rugby teams must have a median equivalent of a college football team, with only 1-2 NFL caliber athletes.

That said, rugby players put way too much emphasis into playing without pads. It’s like arguing that you’re tougher for getting into a fight with your fists instead of using a baseball bat.

I’ve seen countless rugby highlights and the hits don’t even compare to what football players in pads lay on each other
