I do agree that football will probably go away eventually since it's so violent and damaging to your body. Maybe a much softer sport like rugby will eventually catch on here someday.

Gatling is a proven, multiple cheat. Kipchoge’s two hour marathon is up there with Bolts 100m record to anyone with brain stem activity

The title of "fastest man in the world" has ALWAYS been a sprinter, not a marathoner.

I'm sure even you're not naive enough to think that it's possible to be a world class track and field athlete at any distance without copious amounts of orange juice. Kipchoge is a walking pharmacy like anyone else.

Not even in the same universe, boyo. Since rugby is ALWAYS in front of you and they don't wear pads, big hits don't happen. Nice safe form tackles every time. All these "endurance athlete" rugby guys would legit die after a few downs of high level football.

Literally every NFL shot is blind shot. Nothing tough about hitting someone not looking you are probably a big fan of dogshot king hits in fights too

I’m not interested in watching Gatlin, he gets booed everywhere, rightly. Anyone else is innocent until proven otherwise, else where the hell do we end up? I’ve not even mentioned the obvious pro football juicing that starts even before college, it is what it is and you have to compensate for the average American non athleticism somewhere

If you're using your body to earn money, you are using PED's. There's no innocent until proven otherwise.

It's not just endurance they lack. Imagine the dearth of ball skills a linebacker would have. Sure, put him at flanker and he'd absolutely destroy a few half-backs but would be useless at everything else. Handegg positions are incredibly highly specialised, rugby positions aren't.

Yes handegg players are better explosive athletes, but that doesn't mean they would dominate rugby in any way.

The guy in the OP is a 5'11" 190lbs punter. No way is he dominating anything.

There are probably a million things you aren't considering given you have any idea about rugby, but consider this:

Scrums: literally torn ears

Boot studs: having your face raked by a naked stud

Headbuts, choke holds, punching..you name it.

No helmet or pads is a real issue.

Am I understanding this correctly that the best rugby athletes choose to play in the league thatdoesn'tpay?? That makes no sense in my capitalist American mind.

Also, is everyone just gonna ignore that Sam said he was a college offensive lineman and then showed a video where he's on the struggle bus squatting a 3 plate double lol? I can only imagine that the quality of college football in the UK is about equal to a 1A high school in Alabama that goes .500 year in and year out

American sports = static

Rest of the world sports = dynamic

Basketball requires as much endurance and is just as dynamic as any sport out there. You gonna try and tell me that if Lebron and Co. decided to play rugby from a young age they wouldn't absolutely destroy any national team out there?

The fast twitch vs slow twitch athleticism is retarded. Endurance takes months to build for a 60 min soccer or rugby game. The explosive stuff you are either born with or your not. Almost anyone can run for 60 min given preparation. No one can train to run a 4.4 40

true, basketball is very dynamic, but aren't the american sports mainly American football and baseball? Those are both static AF

and as far as endurance goes that's only the basic stat you need as a football/soccer player for instance, it's not what the game is about (slow twitch athleticism), the talent needed you're also born with

children would be way better served playin oztag than they would flag football. kids flag football is more boring than teeball. kids chess is more exciting than kids teeball

oztag is goat for development.

kids should only play sport with a running clock

Depends on the area really. Where I live its football and basketball. Baseball is very regional now days. Football is both static and dynamic depending on the position you play. Stuff like o line, tight end and quarterback are mainly static while almost every position on defense is dynamic and reactionary. If you'll notice the dynamic positions and sports are absolutely dominated by African Americans while the static and strength stuff is mostly white dudes.

The stuff like hand eye or foot eye coordination is a natural thing but its needed way more in soccer than rugby. That's why I didn't say that any big time athlete could kill it on a soccer pitch. Soccer has a very specialized skillset. I still feel like if NFL or NBA players grew up playing rugby they'd dominate it just like the US dominates basketball

Baseball is all but dead in US.

Very regional and Caribbean now.

Basketball most played. Football most popular on TV.

fair enough, it makes sense that some of the positions are more dynamic, those are usually the most naturally/functionally athletic looking guys as well (who look like they got their physique more by playing the game rather than just lifting weights at the gym for the sake of lifting weights)

yeah I think as far as rugby goes you're probably right to think that with the proper training an NFL player could walk into a team, rugby is a lot less natural gifted talent/skill

Union went full professional a few years ago. Up until then, yes you basically got your lunch money. Same with cricket.

Me squatting was 20 years after the fact and on a broken leg. You can only imagine what an absolute unit I was in college

No, I don't think he would.

Rugby is a minor sport. It's only a major sport in a few countries - the largest country where Rugby dominates is new Zealand with a population of 4.8M... approximately 1/2 the population of NYC. There are only 3.5M registered Rugby players in the whole world. About 5.2M people play american football, in the U.S. alone.

Tell me this guy isn't athletic

Lmao, this. Barkley is legitimately one of the worst possible examples he could have given. Dude was an absolute freak, and exactly the type of player that would dominate in rugby.

Charles could have dominated pretty much any real sport(ie not golf or darts) he chose. Anybody who could dominate the post at 6'4" like he did is retard strong. Don't believe that official height listing either. My dad and grandad met him in person a couple times and he ain't 6'6"
6'2"
