Why is Baphomet so often associated with Satanism?

When examining the Baphomet it is clear it is just a symbol of Good and Evil. Meaning you can't have one without the other. Notice the hands pointing up and down. Notice the hands pointing both up and down. Notice both male and female. Notice both human and Animal. Solve (seperate) and Coagula (join). As above so below.

The whole meaning is that you can't have anything without an opposite. Action/Reaction. Night/Day. Good/Evil. As Above/So Below.

I'm not an occultist, I'm actually an agnostic, but I was curious about this.

Apparently some people are into worship of it, but act like it's a joke, but there's something deviant

Then others say that's just a joke too, and that it's just a meme, and everything associated with people being "into it" are just messing around

Jordan Peterson actually talked about the various creation myths and their similarities in a lecture that really got me thinking. I think it was the goddess Kali and her opposite that he discussed at some point (don't quote me on this), and it was pretty telling of the reason why there are "good/evil" comparisons that we put out there.

I think we have to do it specifically because we need an unreachable "good" ideal that is perfect beyond our ability, and an unattainable evil ideal that we should never desire to reach.

To good ideal gives us something to aspire to. The bad ideal allows us to compensate for some of our intentional misdoings.

Not satanism, but demonism if I remember correctly.
Satanists just worship themselves/self improvement and being the best person that can be absolutely SRS.

It's just wrongly attributed to satanism.
However I'm not satanist so I'm not entirely sure.

However I'm not satanist so I'm not entirely sure.
Satanism does have some evils to it. Like the whole destroy your enemies ideal. It's all good until a neckbeard becomes a satanist and views minorities as his enemy. But yea from what I've read, it's pretty much a religion that is very self-centered and focused on the current life not the afterlife.

It’s the ultimate blasphemy of god’s creation. Combines extremes of androgyny with beast like features (dehumanizing the human construct), black wings (antithesis to white of angels), and the caduceus as a phallus clearly depicting the serpent eating the forbidden fruit in the garden of eden

Also strong pagan reference to the third eye with the star and torch at top of head, as a reminder that satan represents an angel of illumination/light/knowledge. Many Christians with esoteric knowledge consider the third eye a portal demonic powers

Basically whoever created it, had a clear intention to mock Christianity on a fundamental level

Correct, but that goes for any religion besides a select few out of the thousands.
After I finished reading the King James bible twice, I decided to read the satanist 'bible' and effectively they are the same thing.
But the satanist 'bible' is more current and better in my opinion for the morals and mentality.

Closest thing I align myself to is Taoism probably. Was a super devout christian for 16 years.

IIRC is because The Church of Satan erected a statue for Baphomet in Salem, Massachussets, basically as a FU to the Government for the hypocrisy on the separation of church and state. They also have after school activities as well, since schools introduced christian after school activities, and hold events for charity and such. Their commandments are pretty solid too.

This to an extent, but to take it deeper...


God set up a specific structure and order. There are supposed to be dualities, but they should be seperate(like male and female). Satan has always wanted to tear down God’s structure, and humans generally drift towards believing they can create a better system here on earth as religion and/or belief in God declines(or worse yet, the acceptance of satanic principles). That’s why civilizations at the end of their life cycle have rampant homosexuality, androgeny, women assuming male roles and males assuming female roles, etc., etc. Humans think they can create a utopia on Earth, but humans are inherently flawed and it always results in death & destruction. To create this utopia they always try to tear down the natural order that has been set in place(solve) and build it up according to what they think is better(coagula). It never works and it never will work. And baphomet is a representation of those concepts(which are Satanic concepts...it’s what the entire archetype and story of Satan is founded on from his very first attempt to overthrow God).

It's interesting. The sad part is Christianity is only a few thousand years old. Before that most Christians were pagan (in Europe) and other types of Polytheists throughout the rest of the world.
