Why would he slow down and swerve away from the main crowd if he was doing it intentionally? His view of the people on the road was completely obscured by the white van, as soon as he sees them he makes an effort to slow down and swerve. After hitting them he briefly thinks about stopping, but knows he would be as good as dead if he did.

to be fair he could have taken the barricade from the left side. He did indeed see a crowd of people on the right side of the barricade and he chose to go that way

edit: nvm there were people on both sides, actually to get through going right was the only option he had.

I doubt it was intentional... probably some soccer mom, panicking as she sees a random car on the highway and people to her right, and doesn't see the retards in dark clothes walking on the freeway in the dark.

You're on the highway, at night, you're not expecting to see people standing in the way, and even if you are, it happens so fast.

Was going down a dark decelent highway, cool wind in my hair... (actually hot AF) and this guy jumped out in front of my vehicle in what I think was a serious suicide attempt but his timing was off. By the time I saw him, I had about a second or two and there really wasn't anything I could have done. I swerved but if there were multiple people, someone would have gotten tagged.

Above links from other miscer can be used to justify fearing for your life.

Personally, for the protesters on the side of the road just holding signs, maybe even with their little slogans as long as reasonable, I have no issue with that. I waved to a few one time. That's their right, that's their freedom, so I'm all for it. The moment they start effecting other people, blocking people, especially putting their hands on someone, it's no longer a protest and they deserve what they get.

What's the speed limit on that road?

We call them motorways here and the speed limit is 70mph but people always go 80, 90 even 100. Can't imagine the stupidity of someone standing on one at night.

Can’t really disagree with this

I fully support the peaceful protests but anyone over the age of 10 knows not to play in the road, especially the fukkin highway

If driver did this intentionally then I hope he gets a hefty sentence though.
