Seems like he attempted to make a run from the police in his car rather than try and reach for his weapon. Eitherway it makes no difference due to the situation. The officer had to make a split decision in a few seconds whether or not to stop him knowing that he might try and use the gun.

It's a justified shooting.

Why did the guy think it would be a good idea to go for his gun in that situation? How can you do something like that and expect not to be shot and killed? If the guy just complied and took the charges for the marijuana and the gun, he might not have even had to do any jail time if he had no priors.
