Not health or performance. Any other reason you give is cope and justification.

Does taking my dog on a morning and evening walk count as cardio?

Depends if it's 10 minutes or 30. Better than nothing, but the question is, if you didn't have a dog, would you still do it?

Strength training without cardio is literally just asking to tax your heart and lungs if you actually do it for decades. LVH isn't isolated to gear users. Being at an obese BMI even at low bodyfat% is just as taxing on your cardiovascular health as being obese with fat, you just happen to be stronger and have less fat-related complications

Can you explain how just weight lifting is bad for heart & lungs specifically and why doing cardio prevents that?

Never said they were bad reasons. Just funny when people say it's something else. It's the same argument as "I wear makeup cus it's fun".

I lift because its a good way to take out aggression, honestly find it pathetic that so many men are fine with being milk bags. I dont really watch my diet, lifting just makes me feel good. No vanity here.

Bigger muscles = more blood. More blood = more strain on heart, and by extension oxygen absorption through the lungs.

Cardio increases the efficiency of how well your heart delivers blood (and oxygen) through your body, lowering the risk of LVH and lowering your blood pressure as well as resting heart rate.

Yup there’s a 0% chance I lift due to:

-hobby
-releases stress
-build muscles
-work on PRs
-overall improvement to lifestyle

Instead I’m just a vapid insecure psychopath. Thanks OP

I lift because it makes me feel good and I love that endorphin high. The physical aspect is just a great by-product of lifting. Plus, lifting helps bone density and as a woman, that's pretty important as you age.

What kind of cardio do you do, op? And for how long? Before or after lifting?

I always plan on doing some cardio after lifting but never do it

I do cardio, but I'll also admit I lift partially for vanity reasons. Nothing wrong with a measured amount of vanity, just as long as it doesn't become a defining personality trait.

Interesting, I've been browsing the net and I can only find articles saying that lifting weights is beneficial for the heart.https://fitnessgenes.com/blog/5-effe...on-your-heart/So more strain on the heart is true but your heart at the same time grows so that it can handle the extra pressure. Do you have any studies regarding this interesting topic?

Hogwash.

The more muscle you maintain when you're younger will have an effect on the amount of muscle you can carry into old age.

The amount of muscle you carry into old age will affect your quality of life by preventing injuries and keeping you mobile.

Cardio is for girls.
