Peter Schiff on JRE
Before I listen, let me guess... Schiff is shilling gold and anticipating a bad recession.

I'm 2 hours in, and it was mostly a "government bad, free market good, everything is a bubble" rant. Surprisingly, he hasn't mentioned gold once so far.
That said, I'm in precious metal stocks and think an economic recession on main street is inevitable at this point, so I'm in no position to criticize.

he was just playing libertarian and Laissez-faire capitalism positions to the extreme (as usual).
I've listened to about 2/3's of it so far and he hasn't gotten to gold shilling yet lol. But he is talking about how all the fiscal policies right now might lead to stagflation and the collapse of the US dollar which I think there is some merit in (fed trying to print its way out of the problem). But he's been saying this chit since before the corona virus hit so it's harder to take it seriously coming from him.
He makes many interesting points but I think he has some major revisionist history going on when it comes to talking about the role of govt in various historical periods.

I mean bitcoins will eventually be worth 0. Even if it does peak to 100k etc..
Itโs based on encryption and eventually technology will catch up to the point of making it worthless.

That's why I like gold and silver mining stocks. You get to take advantage of the rising prices and get a better return on your investment.

That said, entry point matters with precious metals since they donโt always go up in the long term. I think theyโll keep going up if the economy remains weak and the Fed keeps printing, but theyโre already up a lot so Iโm not sure if now is a good time to buy. And if the stock market crashes, these will drop along with everything else, at least temporarily.

I don't know. Schiff seemed to make a ton of sense to me. How is it possible that the fed printing money the way they are doesn't end up biting us some how? This does not seem sustainable at all. Massive national debt, seemingly unlimited quantitative easing, and they're basically shutting the country down again. That means either people will be homeless and poor really soon, or MORE free fed money. Someone teach me something please.

- The US economy is broken and will collapse. Not a matter of "if", but a matter of WHEN. This is certain.
- However, US politicians will not allow us to fix the economy, which will take a lot of pain and bankruptcies. They want to get re-elected. They don't want the stain on their name.
- So, they are using tools such as inflation, aka Quantative Easing, printing money, and going further into debt, to artifically prop up the economy
- They have been doing this for at least 15 years, and will continue to do it until we can't do it anymore
Just because the dollar hasn't collapsed yet, does not mean Schiff is wrong. It simply means the doctor is keeping his brain dead patient on life support for as long as he can, and refuses to call a time of death.
