Fake COVID positives- anyone had this?

My friend and his wife went to CA for her sister’s wedding. They came back and decided since they travelled to go get tested for COVID. They show up to the clinic and sign in but the wait was taking forever so they just left. They later got a call from the clinic saying they tested positive yet they didn’t even take the test. Has anyone heard of this happening to anyone else?

The covid numbers are a bunch of made up bull****

People honestly think 60,000 people are getting tested daily? The level of stupidity of people in the usa amazes me and anyone with half a brain would know this covid chit is a hoax

Yeah the virus is out there but its not as contageous as people say.

First lockdown didn’t work because of all these dumbass protests, now they want to lock us up again this is blatantly dumb as hell.

Someone find a way to leave this earth
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

My mother's friend had the exact same situation. Went to get tested, was reading forever so she left after registering. 1 week later she got a letter with a positive result.

One problem is that, just like giving out the extra 600 a week to college kids on summer break who worked one day within the last year, or retailer workers and doubling their take home (they should unionize for better pay but anyways). They rushed all sort of bull **** legislation to the essence that for every positive COVID case someone gets money straight from the federal government, I’m not sure if it’s the state the hospital the doctors office or what. I have not read much about it other than to know it is a complete saddening mess but I am fairly certain it was the case that hospitals received extra money per COVID case 30 grand is what I heard. and the sad part is many of them were happy to line their pockets while spreading it and recycling their patients ... so perhaps this place will apply to seek extra funding saying “we have xxx number of cases “

However in my state they rarely if ever give results over the phone to my knowledge, pre COVID though

You can find some information on the World Wide Web or here at this website to show I am not completely writing nonsense

So what happened after they told the clinic that they weren’t tested?

Why would they contact the people and make the error obvious instead of just covertly adding a bunch of names to their Positive tally?

.02% of the population getting tested daily isn't unfathomable. I assume the majority of those tests are repeats from front line workers

Far more than 60,000 people are being tested every day in the US and it’s not at all difficult to believe

I’m currently on a high-profile project with strong COVID-19 controls. We have one medic who shoots the forehead temps of 100+ people every single morning before we’re permitted to work

Dno. I’m more of a “oh no way” kinda dude rather than “tell me more”. However if it wasn’t a flat out lie I could believe it was a mistake as one of the testing centers here is like a drive in style one. But having BOTH of them “positive” is highly sketch.

Link me boyette. Is it many more stories of fake positives or “Parker and Kimberly go to wedding in Poway and come back and get fake positives in Salt Lake”? Having a hard time believing the latter is a fukn copy pasta. If your link matches what I was told then I’ll retract my statement and rethink my friends credibility.

Digging around for it. Might take a minute.

I could swear I've already seen it here once before.

Here at least it still isn't that easy to get a test. You have to get referred by your doctor, or self- refer by meeting their criteria and reserve a spot.

I actually just did the drive through testing thing this week. Referral/appointment from a physician. Had to tell them what car I would be driving when the appointment was made. Had to show my ID and verify all my info. And the results were sent to my doctor, not to me directly.

Test was negative.

No idea about your friend. This story seems to be either fake or a recently sprouted urban legend.

Yes ours look slightly like that pic but very long lines. They have been ramming people through because a factory supposedly had an outbreak and the entire town freaked out.

Seems to be such a widespread rumor that in Canada the local authorities made a press release about it.

https://www.krem.com/article/news/ve...1-8d31a26ba90a
A number of similar stories shared on social media indicate that someone planned to get tested for the virus, never completed the test due to long wait times, and then received a letter indicating they tested positive for COVID-19, Kootenai Health said. At least one viewer also reached out to KREM with a similar story.

The posts also claim that these false positives are contributing to rising COVID-19 numbers in North Idaho.

Kootenai Health said on Wednesday that the claims are false and offered several points of clarification.

Coronavirus test results are not sent in the mail by Kootenai Health and are communicated to the doctor who ordered the test via phone, a spokesperson said. The doctor then calls the patient to relay their test results.

Panhandle Health District may send a certified letter with test results if a person cannot be reached by phone after multiple attempts, but this is "very rare," according to Kootenai Health.

Kootenai Health added that coronavirus tests are "quite accurate," and it's much more likely that a patient will receive a false negative due to an insufficient sample or taking a test too early rather than a false positive.
