Oh gee, a business that makes you sign in at the front desk regardless of whether it's a pandemic or not, has a temperature kiosk at said front desk...where customers/patrons go through anyway?
As opposed to, say, a grocery store that has multiple people going in and out of it at any given time?

It's the exact same concept for a grocery store. There's always someone standing by the door. The machine makes a loud noise if you have a fever. You won't continue into the store after that.

Machine does its thing in 3 seconds, so no delay.

Again, answer the practicality of it. Why make an employee, who would otherwise be doing something else in the store, wait at the entrance all day just to enforce temperature checks? You think that's practical or cost-effective?
What about customers? Make them wait outside so each and every person can get check for their temperature? Imagine the lineups, especially during peak hours. People will just turn around and go to another store if they see a massive lineup outside.

Again, not practical or cost-effective.

There's a doorman in most grocery stores I shop at. So no added cost from having an employee do this.

Like I said, it takes less than 3 seconds for the machine to work. So no delay or lineups due to temperature machine

Btw, lineups are normal for grocery shopping now days. Costco, 24 hour fitness, you name it.

Again, you are a fookin retard

So lineups are a regular thing now for capacity reasons, but they'll somehow go away if temperature checks go into effect? the fuk? Do you think people won't have to wait in line for said temperature checks?

As opposed to, say, just wear a mask and enter whenever you want? mental gymnastics of peace

But wait, I didn't say temperature checks would speed up the line up's. You on crack right now?

Temperature checks won't cause a line up, but it won't speed up the line up. Can't believe I gotta actually type this out for your dumbass.

How do you figure temperature checks wouldn't cause a lineup? Where are people waiting to get into the store stand? Oh right...a lineup.

People are waiting because the stores limit how many customers can enter at a time.

I'll say this for atleast the 4th time. Temperature checks take less than 3 seconds on this machine so it will not cause a line up, unless 30+ people are trying to enter at the same time. WHICH DOESN'T HAPPEN.

30 minutes ago, you didn't even know there was such things as stationary temperature scans. Now somehow you think you know all about them and that they will take long and cause a line up. Ignorant dumbass

I guess you missed the part where I wrote "peak shopping times" a few posts above. Also, what happens during a kiosk failure? False reads?

Again, why the hassle of making people wait for temperature checks, when they can justwear a damn maskand they can enter whenever they want?

Peak shopping times doesn't matter. It doesn't matter how many people are standing in line, it doesn't change the fact that only so many are allowed in. They have to wait, simple as that.

Most businesses have someone paid to stand by the door. God damn you really are on crack it's like talking to a little kid.

Right, so if everyone wore a mask inside, they'd still have capacity rules? just LMFAO

And if they had temp checks, they wouldn't need capacity rules either. But customers would still have to wait in line outside. just LMFAO at your mental gymnastics

Oh, and, do you really expect a big box retailer, like Walmart, to install temperature machines at every single one of their locations...instead of, say, making masks mandatory?

The government hates him
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

Alright, fair enough.

Now answer the rest of my post, retard.

You really expect a retailer like Walmart, known for their cost-cutting measures, to spend hundreds of thousand of dollars on standing temp kiosks (which are NOT cheap lmfao) in every single US location, instead of just making patrons wear masks (which they already have LOL)?

You really think that? You must really struggle with all that mental gymnastics going on. just LOL

Why are you pretending like you have any clue how much Walmart can get these scanners for? The one at my gym cost less than $300.

Buying a $300 machine for each Walmart isn't gonna hurt them. Why you so worried about Walmart?

I don't have a single expectation for walmart so hope that answers your question?

I was all in on the idea of just letting the virus run through us so we end up with herd immunity. Now that it looks like immunity is very short lived (if any), I don't know what to think. We are in for a bad winter.
We were very specifically told that the initial lock downs (at least outside of the initial hot spots like NYC) wasn't to stop the spread of covid, but to "flatten the curve" so that hospitals could build up PPE supplies and expand ICU/hospital bed capacity to deal with what they said would otherwise be unmanageable for the healthcare system in an opened up economy. They told us they knew that keeping things locked down wasn't sustainable, but just give them 2 weeks - 1 month to sort out getting the hospitals ready to deal with covid head on, because they told us upfront we weren't getting a vaccine anywhere near soon enough to just hold out for one.

They definitely told us that in my state. Then they complained about a small-ish conservative protest that wanted the economy opened back up a couple months ago because the protesters "didn't care about peoples' lives! Covid! Cooooooooviiiiiiiiiiiid!!!!!!!!!!!" Then the massive liberal protests AND riots got underway, and continue in some capacity to this day - with the media saying NOTHING about covid as it pertains to those giant gatherings. However, they were more than happy to hop right back on the covid train and complain that we need to keep crippling the economy and peoples' general sanity/well being outside of covid itself because the goal posts shifted. They still complain that hospitals might get "overrun". I mean, what are they talking about? It's been 4 months now to build up the means to prepare the healthcare system, and they still claim they just aren't ready to open up. What ever happened to their projections that they could get it done in most of these places within weeks to a month? Why did it become an indefinite ordeal?

post a link to the $300 temp checking kiosk.

It's not going to hurt them, but why the fuk would they even spend a single cent when they can just offload the cost to the consumer via masks?

And fine, you expect the local grocery/convenience stores, which are already bleeding money left and right, to spend $300+ on a machine when they can, again, offload the cost to the consumer via masks?

I've been reading your posts in this thread.

What is your obsession with masks, exactly? Listen, you don't need to rely on those studies you didn't like to prove how absurd the "masks for everyone!!!!" argument is. A little logic will go a long ways. I assume you're the type to generally accept what the likes of the CDC has to say, correct? Well, the CDC has said for WEEKS now that asymptomatic spread is a rarity, according to them. I.e., one must be actively sick with coughing/sneezing to have a statistically relevant chance of infecting others around them. There simply isn't any evidence supporting the notion that aerosolyzed loads of the virus big enough to infect others is a significant risk factor.

That means that the masks are only going to possibly help, in a practical sense, stop the spread from those who are actively sick with coughing/etc. In those cases, those people are supposed to STAY HOME anyway, just like they've said since March. If you're actively sick with covid symptoms, then you don't belong out in public regardless of what type of mask you put on, cloth, n95, or otherwise. So then what is the argument to say that masks should be enforced upon the general public who are either healthy/asymptomatic and not knowing they have it?

What part of this is so difficult to comprehend?

I was all in on the idea of just letting the virus run through us so we end up with herd immunity. Now that it looks like immunity is very short lived (if any), I don't know what to think. We are in for a bad winter.
hospitals have been axing elective stuff for months around here. My dad has A-Fib and if he needed to get shocked again (where they snaked a catheter up his femoral artery to his heart to zap it internally), he would have been denied. My favorite author (larry Correia) posted on social media in april how upset he was with this type of decision making. His wife needed a biopsy done to see if she had breast cancer and she couldnt get it because Gavin Newsom put the brakes on even those types of surgeries

I think a lot of people were just ready to get back to work since congress is abunch of greedy fukking fuktards and theirstimulusbills were packed full of BS earmarks like pelosi's "no longer have to require proof of identification to recieve a mail in ballot" essentially allowing any powerful group (like the democrats with MILLIONS of illegals who will vote however you ask them if you just pay them) to assure their people win. And dems MUS win back the senate (and keep the house) to impeach trump, because they said they would keep doing it until it worked. (Strange that the liberal MSM has yet to mention that huh?)

Cant stay closed forever. I get that leftists are pushign hard for socialism because they are fukking retards and think socialism is the solution to all of life's problems, but they simply dont want to work and think the rich will ALWAYS pay for them. God damnit i hate neo-liberals.....

Edit: I really thought that the virus would chill the fuk out once it got hot as fukking fuk but that didnt happen. Also, cases spiked HUGELY ev en though states were on quarantine so i really dont see how masks and ****downs (lookin at you cuckifornia) will make that much more of a difference

Jesus Christ, kid, stop. You lost.
You're sitting hear yapping about intelligence in this thread. Meanwhile, you seriously believe that Walmart/Target/mega chain hardware shops/etc. are losing significant amounts of money by paying one or two extra employees ~$10 /hr to do things like check temps/do extra sanitation. That's a couple hundred bucks a day. Probably way more than offset by the absurd increase in customers they were having for a few months (continue to some places) because so many small business were forced to shut down. Or are you going to try to turn flip your position now and claim you're more worried about smaller businesses that can't handle extra costs of said staffing? If that's the case, then where were you when they were struggling to stay afloat, and continue to suffer as a result of mandatory shut downs/reduced capacity limits/etc. that the mega giant companies STILL don't have to adhere to?

You seem to fancy yourself as some sort of superior level thinker. Meanwhile, you just get angry and call names anytime someone presents you with legitimate questions to the emotional based arguments that you rant about as gospel truths. Get over yourself.

But as to your 2nd paragraph:

With all these adult-children throwing temper tantrums about wearing a ****ing mask for 10 mins, you expect people to stay home when they start to come down with something? just lmfao @ your wishful thinking
First of all, I have to wear a dumpy mask at work every time I'm there. Now, my city mandated they be used in virtually all public settings. That means I'm allowed to *not* wear a mask while in my own home, someone else's home (though we're still not supposed to visit people much), outside, or driving. Everywhere else I go, I am forced to wear these things. So quit with your "it's only 10 minutes lololololz" argument, because it's complete and utter nonsense. I have to wear one to do basically anything indoors outside of being at my own home or at the gym (which I'm surprised they made an exception for).

As for people staying home when they're sick - I haven't seen a single person out and about in public who appeared actively sick with covid symptoms since this whole thing became a frenzy back in March. People haven't been "toughing it out" much in my area for months now, because they're scared of the virus and don't want people to get sick. You must live in a total dump if the people there are still that inconsiderate of others as to go out while having significant symptoms of covid.

Strong reading comprehension LOL

Did I say they would lose significant amounts of money? I just said why would they bother spending anything when they can offload the cost to consumers via mandatory masks. Which, FYI,they already have LOL.

As for your 2nd point: I was for shutdowns initially. Now I want everything to open back up.
But what you don't seem to understand is that, no matter how you feel about COVID, when cases go up, states/cities/businesses shut down. So why not just let everything open up again but implement mandatory masks to mitigate COVID numbers?

As per your last point: he started it first.
True. But who's to say he hasn't infected anyone because he didn't wear a mask?

I just think it's the irony of it all. If he thought masks were just "hype", he probably just figured COVID was like a regular flu.

And you clearly don't understand the point I was trying to make.

> guy argues that masks only work for symptomatic people so mandatory masks aren't necessary
> [b{I argue that businesses making masks mandatory for everyone saves both time and money so they don't have to do individual symptom checks for every patron

just LOL
Okay. So right now in CA there are 220k positive cases out of 39m people. That's 0.5%. So because 1 out of 200 people is positive, you're okay with burdening the other 199?

If that's your actual stance, fine. But there's also literally the opposite of every principle a free society is built on.

How is wearing a mask burdening, exactly? It takes less time to put on a mask than it is to test temperatures like that other guy kept arguing for. like damn LOL

You suggested checking temperatures for customers would be costly for businesses.

It's not. Like northen said, $10-12/hour and the cost of a temperature scanner is nothing to Walmart.

BTW, masks are already mandatory in public where i'm from and i really don't have an issue with it lol.
