Finasteride, baldies and receidies GTFIH
"Don't take Finasterside bro! It's not worth the risk of chemically castrating yourself!!!!!!"
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6369643/
There is literally no fuarking proof at all that Finasteride has a permanent effect, yet I fuarking see people bring this **** up on this website, every single fuarking day that Finasteride get's brought up. Let's talk about erectile dysfunction specifically, since this is what the talk is always about. Harvard Health has brought up the fact that during 20 years time, there has been a report of 100 cases. 100 cases in 20 years time and you are telling me that the drug itself is to blame? JFL. Can Finasteride cause erectile dysfunction? Yes. Should it go away once you stop taking it? Yes.
Now as you can see I am using the word should. However, the reason for this word doesn't have to to with Finasteride as much as it has to do with
your mental being, which brings me to the next point, Nocebo.
You already know what a Placebo effect is. A nocebo effect is said to occur when negative expectations of the patient regarding a treatment cause the treatment to have a more negative effect than it otherwise would have.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nocebo
Funny how all the permanent side effects that you can supposedly get from Finasteride are all mental, with literally no proof whatsoever that it stems from Finasteride, which only leaves the nocebo effect left as the most logical reason. As we already know, depression is obviously a mental issue, but so is erectile dysfunction. There are obviously a lot of different reasons as for what can cause erectile dysfunction, but every other reason, a doctor is able to eliminate, except for the mental one, which again points to the nocebo effect.
Now, let's talk about the only legitimate worry you have when taking Finasteride, in terms of side effects, and that is Gynaecomastia. This is basically enlargement of breasts in men.
For hair specialists, it's well know that finasteride is among the causes of gyneocmastia. About 4 to 10 out of every 1000 men using finasteride will develop gynecomastia on account of the drug.
https://donovanmedical.com/hair-blog...omastia-review
I want to leave you with this. Other than Gynecomastia, all other side effects are temporary, and if you notice that you get them, just hop off the drug, at least you gave it a try. Lets say we go to the absolute worst case scenario and you end up getting Gynecomastia, which can be fixed by something as simple as liposuction or a very minor surgery. Are you telling me that the minor risk to get this, which is again very easily fixable, is not worth it, and instead you rather want to ride out to the point where you are completely bald, and at which point, Finasteride won't even matter anymore, because it can't even save you at that point?
What do you think is gonna be easier for you to get through if we look at both worst case scenarios? A quick cheap liposuction, or having to go through an entire fuarking hair transplant, which not only is expensive as fuark, but it's not gonna be a fun time. AND YOU WILL NEED TO TAKE FINASTERIDE REGARDLESS, EVEN WHEN YOU ARE DONE WITH THE HAIR TRANSPLANT...

There are countless men who have PFS though. It's fcked up.
But it's something you should experience to believe.

I've read a few studies on this
Its basically a safe drug. When people develop these erectile functions its likely due to other causes
Actually taking it myself now, been on it for 4 months
Literally zero side effects and I've grown a tiny bit of extra hair

Yeah bro, block an enzyme found in tissue all throughout your body, including your central nervous system, responsible for a cascade of important neurosteroids and hormones.
What could go wrong, bro?

Currently on Finasteride (1mg every other day) and Minoxidil (Costco “Rogaine” foam 2x per day).
Fin is even more effective if you’re generally a hairy guy:

Most guys will just not care because vanity is more important and to them a sore but is nothing or insomnia as long as they can keep their hair

Meanwhile DHT is only a very small % of free range testosterone. Stay misinformed though.

My hair is getting pretty thin on top. Cut it too short and noticed it. My dermatologist recommended saw palmetto first due to the possible fin sides...anyone used saw palmetto before?

Reminds me of the guy with his big mega thread who also researched fina an thought it was fine. After 3 years of fina usage, he quit and still has sides. Also didn't believe in pfs and thought it was safe.
You can only learn by taking it, but I understand you're balding and wish for it to be safe...

OP, PFS is a very real thing, and hundreds of thousands of people all over the world are experiencing it. If you dont believe thats real, then by all means take it srs, at the end of the day everyone can do whatever the fuk they want with their bodies. Some people do just fine, and others end up on internet forums telling people not to take it.
I was once like you, "PFS is such bull****, studies show this and that, you cuck!". Fast forward a couple of years and everytime a thread about it comes up, you will see me there advicing people not to take it.
Just remember that finasteride is worth BILLIONS every year, so thread carefully with whatever these studies claim.
Just use your common sense though. It took billions of years for the human bodies to develop into what it is today, and the male human body produces DHT for a reason, its not just a random hormone that exists for the hell of it. Now you take a pill that blocks 80-90% of it, and of course, things go south.
Balding happens naturally, and taking chemicals to prevent the hormones that cause balding to exist... you cant get that for free brah. Law of alchemy, in order to get something you need to give something in return of equal value.
Dont chemically castrate yourself buddy. Not worth it.
"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

Yeah bro, you don'rt understand that side effects are rare and you don't get every one just because it's listed as possible. That chit makes your hair thick, full, and luscious for the great majority of people.

Just because we don't currently understand the scientific mechanism by which it occurs and are not able to replicate it in studies, doesn't mean serious sides don't occur. In reality it needs to be studied further.
Anecdotal reports, while obviously not held to the same regard as scientific evidence is still evidence, and the fact there's so many of them and they mostly manifest with homogeneous, specific symptoms means there might be something to it
The paper YOU posted even alludes to this, strong reading comprehension:
"These have been scrutinized by hair experts who found that persistent sexual side effects were only documented in low-quality studies with a strong bias selection and a significant nocebo effect. Others totally dispute the credibility of the PFS. In any case, the PFS is a problem that has to be dealt with. Low-quality studies neither confirm nor refute the condition as a valid nosologic entity. Therefore, it is as inappropriate to dismiss the condition, as it would be to demonize finasteride for the treatment of male pattern hair loss."
I'm not saying people shouldn't take it, like anything people should make their own choices, but they should at least be informed of thepossibilityof serious, long term side effects. Luckily for me, it's not something i've had to consider (so far).

I experienced the sides from several years of propecia, I even spaced out the dosage after a year, the first few months I took a pill a day, then I did it every other day and then did half a pill every day, to limit the sides it saved my hair but it made my skin soft and my beard hair didnt grow as thick.
I got all the sides too low libido, insomnia, depression, memory fog, this stuff is no joke
The reason why you see 2 percent sides only is because most guys are vain and care more about their hair and many men will be too ashamed to say hey I got low sex drive.

Eventually met a chick (smoking hot chick too), and i realized i didnt want to fuk her. Then suddenly realized i didnt have sexual urges for months now. Flushed all my propecia pills down the toilet the night i realized i was chemically castrated. Those were one of the darkest months of my life, didnt knew if id be back to normal again.
Thankfully that lasted for just a few months, but still, that **** i wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy.
Thats just my personal experience. You guys can come up with any theories you want to disregard my personal experience and thats ok, whatever helps you sleep at night.
