They are out there. They are just a small fraction of the population. Most people avoid talking about children around them. I think in the US it is 4%.

I made the mistake of asking a 60 year old woman about her kids once after seeing her husband with what looked like his kid and grand child in a stroller. Ruined my relationship with her even as neighbors. Turns out it was his kid from previous marriage

I've only ever met a few. They still had men pursuing them for relationships, but there was severe mental illness in play. Schizophrenia, history of trauma, antisocial personality disorder, manic, agoraphobia, etc.

I knew a woman in her 60's with dementia (bad enough she had to wear diapers) and the family still had to chase off dudes who were trying to smash srs.

I think many are quite antisocial and invisible.
My grandma's younger sister is one. She seems quite bitter and loves to make sexist jokes about men being pigs and sometimes is a little unpleasant to be around. She owns multiple dogs and mostly talks about what those dogs do.
She is really happy to be invited to family meetings though and sometimes hard to get rid off.


Dunno her exact past. She had a LTR with a divorced guy, when I was a child. Dude had a teenage son from previous marriage. After they broke up the boy actually stayed with her for some time instead of his mom or dad somehow, but they lost contact as well.

My great aunt and uncle never had children. They lived in a huge house in the countryside and travelled a lot. She was always nice and jovial, but was a notorious wine drinker. She had about 10 siblings and a huge number of nieces and nephews so in a way some were probably like surrogate children that she didn't have to actually look after.

Met a few through work. Some are normal, some clearly have some kind of issue that they couldn't get over. Same with older men too.

Yeah my aunt, but her husband committed suicide at 30 before they had kids, she never remarried

Now shes 60, still works an office job, lives in a house, has a pretty regular life

I knew one who lived next door to my grand parents.

tho she did get married 3 times; all 3 of her husbands died, and at least 1 was suicide.

anywho, she didn't have kids and all the husbands died so she was alone which made her so fukn miserable all she did was complan about the noisy grand kids who visited every sunday and wouldn't give our football back if it went in her garden.

Yes actually one of my closest friends is a woman in her 90s who never had kids or married

She was our next door neighbor when I was a kid and teen, and was like a surrogate grandma to me. Taught me to play piano, draw, speak French (i was homeschooled for several years) and got me into good wine, coffee, and classical music. I taught her how to use a computer, send emails, watch YouTube, exercise and stuff haha. Still go and see her and get drunk talking politics, history and life whenever I visit family. She's awesome to be honest!

My sister. Shes now 47 and has never been married.

She rode the carousel into her 30's, then spent 10 years single trying to find the hot guy(dated 3 guys in that time that were all cheating on someone else with her), then spent 3 years in a relationship with a guy who moved twice and never asked her to move in and now she has given up on a husband and is once again on the carousel while living with my dad and becoming a cat lady"

She has still yet to realize she has the mentality of a 15 year old and a toxic entitled personality.

If you visited a food bank, mostly the women there waiting for food all have many children. The kids move out and leave her impoverished because children have to take care of their own lives first. That's the thing to consider before popping one out. If a person isn't in a stable marriage with a man who makes a decent living, (and what modern guy wants a "ball and chain" when he can just go from woman to woman) then what kind of life would she give her children? 3rd or 4th wave feminism essentially demands that women who consider a man as a provider are nothing but prostitutes and parasites and ought to be ashamed of themselves. I'd say 99% of miscers agree. So maybe "old maids" are miserable, but old moms are even sadder. Old maids can hope for a social life, old moms end up with literally nothing.

yea my neighbor across the street from me when I was growing up. Never married and no kids. She was always very nice. BUT she was obsessed with online shopping/HGTV.

I noticed this as we got older. Inside her home there was products EVERYWHERE, alot unopened.

Put up her hurricane shutters every few years and the garage progressively got worse and worse. Boxes everywhere, felt like a tunnel rat trying to reach the shutters.

With all that said, she was still very nice and would do anything for me or my sisters.

she is probably in her early 60s now. Ive known her for most of my life. 20+ yrs
