Experience with melatonin/insomnia

Hey misc,

What is your experience with melatonin? Results, dosage, etc. I have pretty bad insomnia. I’ve gotten about 6 hours of sleep in the last 4 days combined. I’ve been using my own Sleeping “herbs” For the past 3 years for sleep. I decided to cut it out and now I’m trying to fix my insomnia some other way. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Honestly melatonin for me personally has really helped. I take a 2mg dosage and it should be enough to make me tired within half an hour. I have terrible sleeping problems, so as long as you're not going to bed at 3 every night and then taking the tablets, you should be good to take it.

It's for short term use, your mileage will vary.

You can't OD on it, I recommend starting at a low dose of 1-3mg(that's 10x what you naturally produce) until it's no longer effective to minimize the risk of extreme night terrors.

Keep in mind after starting your body will become dependent and stop producing it's own just like any drug.

Personally I avoid it because of said night terrors but for some people it can be a safe effective sleep aid for weeks to years. If you've gotten 6 hours in 4 days you definitely need to do something about that asap. Not healthy.

Not saying I know anything about giving medical advice but I stack 10 mg of it with Benadryl and something else prescribed (not the "herb" others have alluded to) Benadryl is the same thing as Zzz-Quil but cheaper. Liquid Passionflower Extract is also great. As you can tell my sleep is completely f'd.

Yeah it doesn’t feel good at all man. I’m just trying my best to not treat people poorly due to irritability. I’ve had this problem for 6 years, I also do get night terrors when I actually get a bit of sleep, so maybe melatonin is not the way to go for me. Thanks

I’ve had insomnia for 6 years. I slept about 3-4 hours a night the first 3 years. Been using herb daily the past 3 years (only at night, never before 8PM) and I slept 8-10hrs per night. My tolerance just got too high and I started getting bad brain fog!

I got a little scared that it supposedly lowers test, so I stopped.

Slippery slope brah, so be careful with it. I started at 3mg/night and eventually was taking 10-20mg every night. I took a couple months off it using Kirkland's sleep aid from Costco, started taking ZMA and KSM-66 before bed, and now 1.5 mg melatonin about an hour and a half before I lay down does the trick perfectly and has done so for the past 6 months or so.

At one point prior to melatonin I was taking 3-4 benadryl/night and still having trouble sleeping. So it's definitely an improvement over that.

Thanks man. On recharge

Benadryl doesn’t do it for me either lol. I think I’m going to hold off on the melatonin just because I already have messed up dreams if I do sleep. I do take ZMA and used to take ksm-66. I’m going to try getting some more and see what happens !

Side note. Since THC (it is legal recreationally and medically where I live) is the only thing that has ever worked for sleep for me, does anyone know if it does indeed lower test? I’m not going to pretend I know how to analyze scientific literature.

Leave the interpretation of data to the PhD's, even I'm not technically qualified to do so and would be conjecture. It's too easy to form a conclusion out of context.

There's no correlation between smoking and T levels, they change constantly throughout the day depending on how recently you've eaten, to put it simply. Don't worry about it.

I've been taking about .5mg of melatonin and 5mg of ****** every night for the last two years now, and it has been by far the most productive time of my life.

****** is where it's at, you don't get a hangover from it like you might from other sleep aids(and it literally knocks your ass out and you wake up feeling refreshed).

This routine literally made me go from being a person with a bad attitude and drinks a lot to being a person who is positive and happy as hell and earns $400k per year.

Srs? Never tried that before. I’m sort of hippie dippie and don’t take pills, I don’t even take Advil lol. But those sound like some serious results

Taking a Benadryl and then reading until i pass out was always great sleep, problem is it leaves me super groggy the next morning. Like roll over and continue sleeping during a firealarm groggy

Melatonin wont have its full effects if its not taken at the same time every day. Like 10pm for example, 10:15 lights out and 5 mins later your asleep it works 1000% bettter this way.
I also recommend the extended released 2mg pills because anything over 2mg is just getting into trhing to replicate harder sleeping tablets (******,******) but if you do that it phucks ya receptors up permanently
