Just lol @ CICOcels

Every time someone starts a thread about dieting, losing weight, getting leaner, etc, they get swamped by an army of mental midgets telling them that it doesn't matter what you eat or when you eat because all that matters is calories in vs calories out.

This is like a soccer coach announcing that all that matters is which team scores the most goals, so he isn't going to care about fitness training or skill training or recruiting strong players or developing junior players. "Those things are irrelevant to the result - the only thing that matters is who scores the most goals" and, later in the season "sure we keep losing - but it isn't because we don't train or recruit good players or stick to our positions, it's just because we score less goals than the other teams".

The thing about eating at your below your daily caloric needs is that some people can do it without even feeling the slightest bit hungry. Other people experience it as hour to hour torture, taking every fibre of their willpower to last until the next meal.

Why is it that for some people it happens naturally and requires no willpower, but for other people it is agony and no amount of willpower can do it? Isn't that an interesting question? Might it not relate to what you eat, when you eat, some other aspect of how you manage your nutrition and your metabolism?

These are the questions that are actually relevant to achieving the goal. But they never get discussed because of the CICOcels.

I agree, OP. Too many midgets, though I like to call them manlets, on here trying to hit way above their weight classes.
"The manlet is a savage beast that knows no moral bound. After falling in disgrace to a manmore, a ravaged manlet would not hesitate to come from behind and land a sucker punch/ swing with a rock to the back of a manmore's head. They are ruthless and you need to spend some more time in the gutter to even begin trying to comprehend what goes on in their minds."

Hurt by the aleeboy and need to cope? Go here for hugs: https://forum.obnoxiousbrutes.com/showthread.php?t=178724011

I agree with your point but your analogy is off. It's not like a coach saying it. It's like the International Football Association Board telling the teams that the rule is "more goals wins". It's then up to the teams to do what they need to do to make that happen. They go out and learn to score more goals and then they will win.

You're right that the information isn't very helpful but it's correct. The teams shouldn't complain to the board about it. Work hard and toughen up. You know the fukn rules.

The point is that when someone suggests that IF, or fasted cardio, or avoiding sugar, or whatever, helps them lose weight, people try to shut that down as irrelevant because all that matters is CICO. As if trying to take the next step and figure out how to make CICO work is being a CICO denialist.

Are we in 2013 again ?

No one ever said that WHAT you eat doesn't matter. Both quality and quantity matter if you want to lose fat and maintain that bodycomposition while maintaining/improving your performances.

In terms of pure physics and pure WEIGHT loss (weight loss =/= fatloss), REGARDLESS of your goals, only what matters is quantity aka CICO.

Retards who are proning that you should eat whatever you want and indulge with foods low in micro density while dieting are what they are, retards.

Not sure what special thing happened in 2013, but in 2020 there is still a baffling lack of curiosity about what people who are lean and never feel hungry are doing differently.

NEAT makes a huge difference with hunger / satiation.

There's lots of factors OP.

You've done a great job trolling the misc. I certainly took the bait.

Strong reading comprehension.

I'm not denying CICO, I'm saying it's the least interesting part of the story.

Keto is just another way of CICO.

Eat 5000 calories a day on keto and let's see your veiny 6 pack.

The point is that you don't eat 5000 calories on keto.

Keto is far from the best way to do it, but it helps you to manage your insulin levels, appetite, metabolism, etc.

People dismiss approaches to eating on the basis that if you ate more calories on it you would still get fat. They don't notice that there are some ways of eating that train you to want more calories (with associated hunger and appetite issues) and other eating approaches that mean you never feel hungry when eating to your caloric requirements.

Yes. But you don't skip fitness training, skills training, planning, positions, selecting the best players etc on the basis that these don't matter because the most goals win. You focus all your energy on these things because they are HOW you score more goals.

But when it comes to diet people shut down discussions of HOW to consistently and easily eat less calories than you burn by re announcing the obvious and boring fact that you need to eat less calories than you burn.

Where did you see these people that shut down discussions of HOW

I aim to eat one meal every second day, but at most eat one meal a day. Never feel hungry.

Keto/carnivore diets make it easier to not feel the hunger due to your body not looking for sugar for food.

no they don't and thats the entire premise behind every single fad diet out there, keto, IM, iifym all specifically made and state that the idea is to reduce hunger and make it easier to stay in a deficit

I think you're being obtuse and just wanted to make a thread to argue about a point that is never neglected in dieting discussions

They also disproved this.

Processed foods make you way fatter because they **** up your hormones so you burn less calories, thus ruining the calories in vs calories out myth.

That myth only applies when you eat no processed food not IIFYM

Holy sht the amount of broscience ITT just lmfao

Unless you have metabolic syndrome or any pathology related to it, or any other pathology that has an impact on your metabolism (thyroid problems for exemple) you shouldn't even talk about insuline or any other hormone.

How much you eat matters in terms of pure weight loss.

What AND how much you eat matter in terms of quality of weight loss/satiety/performance/reaching your micronutrient needs. That is it, i don't understand why everyone is overcomplicating it

what you say doesn't even make sense, overeat on "healthy" foods aka nutrient rich foods and you also get dyslipidemia, maybe T2D or any other complication related to overeating in the long term. It has nothing to do with the quality.
