would you get an inguinal hernia repair knowing the following

the doctor isn't convinced it'll fix all of your pain.
single digit percent chance of persistent pain
it could actually make the pain worse
the Dr performing the surgery has a lot of experience of the davinci robot

I got it done in November. Really painful for a few weeks.

Feel great now, there is still some pain where the mesh is but compared to the pain I was feeling it is nothing.

What else could it be if not a sports hernia?

Yes. I got it done laproscopicly. I started lifting 2 weeks after srugery, very very light weights. 95lbs squats, 30lb dumbell presses. Gradually increasing.

For about 4 months afterwards there was small twinges of pain around the mesh when I lifted hard or soemthing. Kind of worried me but it was no big deal. Now a year and a half later I have no pain and cant even tell i had surgery.

Tbh easiest surgery ever, would get it again.

I had a hernia when I was born. I was lifting after a long break due to covid. His saying some of my symptohms aren't explained by a hernia.

my pain comes and goes with intensity.

Would never get the robot for a hernia, but whatever. If you have one might as get it taken care of even it’s not going to fix all your symptoms.

Had mine done last winter, no big deal. Sore for a couple days, was swimming in a week and lifting at 6 weeks
