Those minorities will be black trannies. Hollywood hates straight black men just as much as straight white males

The true rate will likely never be known since there is an agenda to keep it under the rug. The generally agreed upon suicide rate for pre/post is about the same, which is vastly higher than the general population.

I would say with moderate confidence that the suicide rate for post op is probably higher than pre.

All I know is I have read the stories from people who have gone through with it, and if they are in fact true, the surgeries are like giving a bulimic ipecac. Morally/ethically it needs to be stopped.

The data i've seen suggests the suicide rate is near identical to mentally ill people, isn't that funny?

Of course most of these studies never see the light of day either.

https://news.cornell.edu/stories/201...tion-treatment
A new analysis conducted by researchers at the What We Know Project (WWKP), an initiative of Cornell University’s Center for the Study of Inequality (CSI), reviewed more than 25 years of scholarship on transgender mental health and found a strong consensus that undergoing gender transition can improve the well-being of transgender people.

The year-long review screened more than 4,000 studies and identified 56 that assessed whether gender transition improves the mental well-being of transgender individuals. The analysis concluded that 93 percent of the studies found positive effects from gender transition, indicating “a robust international consensus in the peer-reviewed literature that gender transition, including medical treatments such as hormone therapy and surgeries, improves the overall well-being of transgender individuals.”

The findings could play a role in a renewed debate about the fitness and health of transgender service members. The Pentagon has moved recently to reinstitute a transgender service ban based on claims of “uncertainty” about the science of treatment for gender dysphoria.

“Among researchers who have studied gender transition, there is little doubt that it improves the well-being of transgender people, often markedly,” said Nathaniel Frank, director of the What We Know Project, and co-lead, with researcher Kellan Baker, of the online study. “A consensus like this is rare in social science.” Their analysis confirms earlier findings that reflect near unanimity of opinion by experts on treatment of gender dysphoria, Frank said. “Just like anyone else,” he said, “with access to adequate health care, transgender people can excel at life and at work.”
Research Findings
1. The scholarly literature makes clear that gender transition is effective in treating gender dysphoria and can significantly improve the well-being of transgender individuals.

2. Among the positive outcomes of gender transition and related medical treatments for transgender individuals are improved quality of life, greater relationship satisfaction, higher self-esteem and confidence, and reductions in anxiety, depression, suicidality, and substance use.

3. The positive impact of gender transition on transgender well-being has grown considerably in recent years, as both surgical techniques and social support have improved.

4. Regrets following gender transition are extremely rare and have become even rarer as both surgical techniques and social support have improved. Pooling data from numerous studies demonstrates a regret rate ranging from .3 percent to 3.8 percent. Regrets are most likely to result from a lack of social support after transition or poor surgical outcomes using older techniques.

5. Factors that are predictive of success in the treatment of gender dysphoria include adequate preparation and mental health support prior to treatment, proper follow-up care from knowledgeable providers, consistent family and social support, and high-quality surgical outcomes (when surgery is involved).

6. Transgender individuals, particularly those who cannot access treatment for gender dysphoria or who encounter unsupportive social environments, are more likely than the general population to experience health challenges such as depression, anxiety, suicidality and minority stress. While gender transition can mitigate these challenges, the health and well-being of transgender people can be harmed by stigmatizing and discriminatory treatment.

7. An inherent limitation in the field of transgender health research is that it is difficult to conduct prospective studies or randomized control trials of treatments for gender dysphoria because of the individualized nature of treatment, the varying and unequal circumstances of population members, the small size of the known transgender population, and the ethical issues involved in withholding an effective treatment from those who need it.

8. Transgender outcomes research is still evolving and has been limited by the historical stigma against conducting research in this field. More research is needed to adequately characterize and address the needs of the transgender population.

So we've heard from uneducated miscers and their prejudiced opinions. This is what the data actually shows.

And btw, there are preliminary biological markers that allow one to distinguish between female, mtf, ftm, and male brains.

No. You're the one denying science, as the meta analysis of the 51 research studies on this on Cornell shows. The surgeries overall help much more than they harm, and that is why doctors offer them.

So you have feelings. They have evidence. And here's the thing. Gender conversion psychotherapy has been tried. For THOUSANDS of years...It never worked. This works for the vast majority of cases. Back in the day, if a person were trans, people would try to reassure them they weren't and then murder them if they outed themselves publicly. We have a better way to deal with what we call "gender dysphoria" now.

I realize the procedure is icky and there are ethical questions to be asked about how we treat trans people for bathrooms, prisons, locker rooms or sports leagues. We need to find a solution for these things, but the fact is trans people exist and as of right now, the medical studies seem to indicate the surgeries help more than they harm.

As per the metaanalysis of 51 other studies, the surgeries are overall helpful. You're mentioning one of the 7% which showed different results. 93% say the opposite. This is known as cherry picking.

as you'll know, studies exploring the reality of transgender and gay statistics don't get grants if they don't show the "correct" results.
41.8 percent of transgender report attempting suicide in their lives.

Oh actually that Swe study isn't even mentioned in the metaanalysis. The reason is it is not meant to be an evaluation of treatment efficacy.

"Dhejne: People who misuse the study always omit the fact that the study clearly states that it is not an evaluation of gender dysphoria treatment. If we look at the literature, we find that several recent studies conclude that WPATH Standards of Care compliant treatment decrease gender dysphoria and improves mental health."

This is the author of the Swedish study. She is on record lamenting the fact that right wing bigots misuse her study to infringe on trans rights. She stresses this is a misrepresentation of her study.

https://www.reddit.com/r/science/com...tent=post_body

Dhejne: I have no good recommendation what to do. I have said many times that the study is not design to evaluate the outcome of medical transition. It DOES NOT say that medical transition causes people to commit suicide. However it does say that people who have transition are more vulnerable and that we need to improve care. I am happy about that it has also been seen that way and in those cases help to secure more resources to transgender health care.

41.8% of trans youth said they had attempted suicide. This should be no shock to people considering the way you people bash them. The entire point of gender reassignment is to reduce suicide rates.

so she's reinforcing that it's impossible to publish data or to get funding for studies that goes against political correctness. Due to her clear bias, any data that doesn't support her world view would be rejected.

Why would you ignore the 51 studies showing it helps? And the studies aren't constructed to show one thing or another. They wouldn't be accepted. What has happened is her study was used by uneducated lay people to attack trans rights. It is a misrepresentation of her work.

Read. The. Thread. Anyway, for anyone who gives a shyt, pls go here and read:

https://whatweknow.inequality.cornel...der-people%20/

This should settle any debate on this issue. Any citations of the Swedish study as an attempt to evaluate the efficacy of gender reassignment surgery are a misrepresentation of the author's findings. She indicated the study was not designed to evaluate pre and post op comparisons for that purpose. To address the point, the cohort from 1989-2003 did not show any increase in suicidality compared to controls. If one must wonder why someone who had an op before that might have been more suicidal in a time when being trans was extremely frowned upon and LGBT rights basically didn't exist, one would be exactly the type of idiot to post here bashing trans people.
