Orlando is booming from the tourism and tech industry, and is a mixture of everything (whites, latinos, asians, etc). lots of job opportunities that pay well and the real estate market is very reasonable
if i ever move back, i'd probably settle in the melbourne/coco beach area. not too big and not too small, homes are priced reasonable and close to the beach

This type of action is going to push out the high earners, especially with remote work, and the middle class will eventually get hit with a tax hike, lib policies depend so much on the rich supporting everyone that once they leave the economy will fall on its face. Guaranteed the SF housing market is going to collapse.

As an SD brah, I’m in the same boat, looking to leave in 2021/2022 to either CO springs, Aurora, North TX (Richardson, Plano, Dallas), or Melbourne FL. Anyone have feedback on these locations? I’ve lived in DFW area in the 90s as a kid, wasn’t bad but hot af summers, houses were huge and cheap and people were noticeably more friendly.

What are your thoughts on Brickell and Coral Gables. What part of Florida do you think has the most positive outlook going forward? When the people from New York flee do you think they will go to Orlando or Miami?


Also, any thoughts on Tampa?

Melbourne is decent, kind of quiet. Old people town imo.

Retired Yankees tend to move to southern Palm Beach county, Broward County ( Ft Lauderdale) and some parts of Miami. Miami less unless they are really rich. Coral Gables is okay.

Stay away from Boca Raton, Ft Lauderdale (and all of Broward), and you better have money for Miami.

Orlando is mostly Hispanic ( Puerto Rican’s, Cuban, Columbian) and a ton of rich white people mixed with some red neck and the occasional rough area. Head towards the resorts and it’s all international.

Tampa is the fastest growing area in the state currently.

Don't forget prop 15. I though it was gonna normalize property taxes for the state. But nope it only targets businesses of course which goes straight back to us in the form of higher prices for purchases.

I am not a liberal, I haven't been one since middle school. Whoever suggests a good state will get 2 red voters for sure.

I don't believe you can be a communist and be pro gun considering that all liberals want stricter gun rights, and their end goal is California with their de facto gun bans. I am an accountant, so you will be getting another professional to join the economy.

Left San Diego almost 2 years ago exactly - moved to Columbus Ohio. Its not bad here, already had a job lined up. Also had offers in Richmond VA and Indianapolis (and later another one in Illinois), but Columbus sounded like the best one to me, Im sure Indianapolis would have been good but the Columbus job is in a field that's much bigger and has much more opportunities for advancement.

Illegals were given REAL IDs in this state, they are allowed to vote in govt elections relating to Public Education, and they get govt benefits. Why don't all conservatives just leave the state? Like let's all go to red states and pump up those #s. We get no representation in this government.

i've never been to brickell or coral gabes. as for a positive outlook, i'd say orlando. there's so much over there and the city keeps growing, which is a good thing. as more people move there, the developers keep building up homes, so the real estate market is better. with that, more roads are being built and traffic increases. miami cant really expand anymore, so as more people move there, real estate and rent costs more. as for people fleeing NY to florida, i'm not sure on where they move to. i would think that the latino demography would go to miami.

i've been to tampa a few times for work trips, so i dont have much experience. if you are into sports, they got the Buccaneers (blessed tom brady), lighting (NHL) and the rays (baseball). well....once the covid leaves, sports will be back open.

I think Virginia is pretty underrated. Very conservative, has mountains, beaches, and many outdoor activities. Also has a lot of different cities/districts that are all completely different. And has many American historical sites.

Also, most Virginias I've seen speak on living there think its one of the best states to live in the country.

Leaving CA as well opie, the wife & I have done very well here but being a Conservative, we are done with the BS..& prices. South Dakota is what we are thinking as it is the only state that has not shut down, enforced masks that do nothing, & has beautiful open land.

I want to leave Cali too. One of my buddy lives in OKC but they're not known for their IT work so I was thinking Texas too. It's so sad when I cannot even afford a house with what I make, and my politics does not align with Cali's...
