Mexican Food > Asian Food

Been supporting local restaurants lately by ordering take out as often as I can and by far Mexican food is so much better than asian food. Anyone agree? Tacos and empanadas are sent from the heavens.

Chit absolutely. Forgot about sushi. It is a contender for GOAT. I’d still put Thai above Japanese just because there are more options, deeper flavors (not as big of a fan of other Japanese foods) but sushi itself is fan-fukin-tastic.

Agree with OP, Mexican is my favorite 'ethnic' cuisine but it's subjective obviously. It's ok to like em all.

Thai is probably my second favorite.

Italian would be my favorite but it's too fuking heavy with all the pasta and bread so I can't eat it as often.

Americanized versions of Asian food, especially Chinese food, is differentiated to a point where you could arguably call it its own type of cuisine. It's probably something along the lines of Domino's pizza vs a pizza you might order in Rome, Italy. The reason (probably) is that American-Asian restaurants historically couldn't source all the "authentic" ingredients from Asia without paying a premium for importing them, so they just invented new dishes with local ingredients. It's really hard to "show" it with pictures. It's just something you'll have to taste.

Looks like more responses in this thread agree that Mexican/South american food is better. Not hating on asian food, I still eat it. My bad if this thread seemed like a personal attack.
