Will there ever be a wrestler again to reach the level of fame that

Hulk hogan did?

Unless you lived through hulkamania in his prime you have no idea just how famous this guy was.

I stoped watching wrestling years ago. Have not watched ot regularly since the NWO and monday night nitro days but there has been no wrestler comes even close.

Probably not.

Stars were bigger back then in the sense that market wasn't saturated.

Same deal with Micheal Jackson, Elvis, etc.

Nobody's gonna top their fame because fame is more easily accessible these days.

So there's a lot more competition, they're all competing for people's attention, along with the TV, ********, Youtube, and a million other things.

This. Ask a 90 year old if they've heard of 50 Cent. Guy broke singles record and yet probably half of boomers couldn't pick his face out of the crowd. We live in different times.

Bruh.

****ing Lil Nas X has the biggest song of all-time, topping Mariah Carey.

How many years til nobody knows who Lil Nas X is?

He beat Mariah Carey, who was a superstar.

It's obnoxious, imagine how people will be out of the loop in 10 years.

I'm kinda getting to that point where I don't know about who's who, because I don't watch TV etc.

In the future people are gonna be in their early 30's and not able to relate to the younger generation at all.

That generation gap is accelerated.

Not at all. He is a huge world wide star. But hogan reached far more places in his fame.

Dude even had his own saturday morning cartoon. His own cereal.. He was references everywhere by everyone. Across all spectrums.

In terms of just professional wrestling....Hulk Hogan is the biggest star of the industry ever.

Stone Cold and John Cena follow him. Hogan, Austin and Cena both out rank The Rock when strictly talking about the pro wrestling industry.

If you're talking about general pop culture popularity, (keep in mind it is 2020 not 1989) Rocky has him beat solely just based on his Hollywood movie popularity. Hell, even Cena is more popular in current day pop culture than Hogan ever was (Hogan Knows Best didn't exactly take off lol).

If Rocky decides to be on a cereal box he would sell more cereal than Bruce Jenner (only major celeb who is known to be on cereal I could think of lol!) ever could tbh. If The Rock wanted his own Saturday morning cartoon show, he would have every studio on their knees begging for him to sign with them instantly if you're being realistic about the current day climate.

Just regarding wrestling, Hogan is king though. I was a kid during Hogan's twilight years in WWE/teen in his TNA days.
If you watch current WWE whenever Hogan is around, kids in the crowd are wearing his merchandise around 30 years from Hulkamania started...I rarely see kids in Rock or even Austin merchandise. It's either Hogan or Cena merch.

Nope, I get why people would think so...but nah. Hogan is number 1 overall in eras with regards to just wrestling.

There's a reason why he is the "Immortal" Hulk Hogan!

The Rock is one of the most famous people in the country currently. I think he is more mainstream famous than Hogan ever was.

When I was a TA in grad school, one new professor got in trouble for running up over $200 on Hulk Hogan's fan hotline. That chit was priceless, I overheard the discussion with the department chair to pay it back and was rolling in the floor!

I was like 8 during the height of Hulkamania. He was literally everywhere. TV commercials, movies, sponsorships, toys, clothes, tv shows, hell he even had his own cartoon show.

This. Hogan IS the face of wrestling. He’s a pop culture reference. The rock is just another movie star.

It’s like comparing Chris hemsworth to Tom cruise. Chris brown to Michael Jackson. Buble to Sinatra. Mayweather to Ali/Tyson.

Maybe it’s the times and a more saturated market, but back then, they weren’t just the participant, they were almost synonymous with the industry they participated in. Hulk hogan is to wrestling as arbor is to bodybuilding.

Kids would eat their vegetables cos hulk hogan said so.
