Why are 10lb plates so hard to produce

Checked Amazon and eBay and can't find 10lb plates for less than $150/plate. Every store is out.

Now I'm no tradie but drilling a hole through a piece of metal isn't exactly rocket science.

Why hasnt Walmart, target, or any other major retailer capitalized on the demand and had plates massed produced after nearly 6 months now of corona?

Rogue only a few days ago gave me a notice that they had 10lb Olympic iron plates back in stock.

You need to sign up for notices when they're in, and/or get on a preorder list on a website that offers them. I ordered 8 plates from a website in late June and am still waiting for them, lol.

Walmart or target could literally buy one of those shops and start a new fitness line with Walmart or target branded equipment just like Costco does with Kirkland. You also realize Walmart is capable of finding a different distributor at least temporarily if they don't want to go that route.

- You are a foundry thst makes plates
- gyms all over the country are going belly/ closing
- demand for plates (from their suppliers) plummets

Do you think they are gonna want to make more playes when a bunch of these gyms will start liquidating?

Yeah I think they get poured and pressed into a mold you office-cel. Steel is down at a huge low and I don't think they would turn their attention to manufacturing plates as it wouldn't yield them the highest profit margin. Manufacturing of cars and beams is where the steel industry will make their most money, and are likely about to be paid to speed up the process to get more product out on the market.

They're pretty sturdy. I used to make smaller 10 lbs ones that were also thicker specially for dumbbells.
You just can't throw them or drop them on purpose.

You can order a bunch of 10 lbs cast iron plates from alibaba and then sell the excess ones for a profit.

They are and were shut down. You fail to understand logistics.

Even one week of plant shut down will set back product availability for months because of process.

It will be 2021 before America starts back up at the earliest and you seeing regularly available weights.
