Can you guys share some deadlift advice. Just purchased these heavy grips

Current max is 165kg / 363 lbs. Short term goal is 4 plates, long term maybe 5-6 plates

My current strategies to increase deadlift (Please add some tips/advice that has worked for you)
-Use heavy hand grip regularly
-Do deadlifts twice a week because its my weak point
-Hold bumbbells in each hand for grip strength
-Hanging off pull up bars
-Mixing up rep ranges
-Unsure on whether I should purchase a belt - would it help?

Just purchased this to work on my grip strength (i notice my grip and hands fail me before my back)

Watching this right now for motivation. This guy was once an extremely skinny kid, and can now bench close to 405

Gripper doesn't do **** for holding onto a deadlift. Hammer curls and bar hangs will be enough. End your last set with a hold at the top.

I did hook grip anyways and all you have to do is build tolerance.

Practice bracing correctly and getting tight. Technique is numero uno.

One day should be submaximal work focusing on technique and smashing all your weak points. The other day should be focusing on singles. I went from 365lb to 515lb in 12 weeks. I also did high rep deadlift stance box squats 1x20 and pumped the weight up 15lbs each week.

You just have to go all in and it will blow up. Don't worry about your regular squat or bench that much either. Those will stagnate for a bit.

I'd follow a program if I were you. I like 531s personally.

Belts are good and using them will generally drive up both your belted and beltless lifts.

Seems like you're headed in the right direction re; grip strength, though I'd opt for using hook grip or mixed grip for your heaviest deadlifts. You can improve your grip strength with double overhand up until it gives out, and then you can switch to a stronger grip, so you don't hold your other body parts back in the deadlift. Chalk also really helps. Probably also worth looking into wrist curls, reverse grip curls, and plate pinches for grip training.

Lex Little has also almost definitely used PEDs btw.

Completely different from anything you'd expect. George Leeman told me what to do and I followed.

I lifted 4 days a week. All major lifts 20 reps.

For deadlifts I did 1x20 starting with 225lbs on a 2in deficet (stood on a thick 45lb plate). Add 20lbs each week. I got up to 315x20. So 6 weeks of that, then I went to 6 weeks on the floor. Then maxed the 13th week. I would do the 1x15 deadlift stance box squat and add 15lbs a week on it. It blew up my power from the bottom.

My squat day I did 1x20 reps and worked my way up adding 15lbs each week too.

Tons of volume. I mean Leeman even had me do 5x20 of multiple exercises after the deadlifts and deadlift stance box squats. barbell rows from 135lbx10 adding 20lbs until we failled. 5x20 db single arm rows, 5x20 hyperextensions, 5x20 hammer curls.

No need to go that nuts. Those first 6 weeks built my base and hypertrophy for my main movers but also my weak points. The final 6 weeks were doing sets of 5s, 3s, 2s and tons of sets just perfecting technique. Worked wonders for me.

Crush grippers are great for building grip strength but if you're looking for deadlift-specific grip, just do more deadlifts. Especially double overhand and holds.

I pulled 705 by deadlifting once every 2 weeks for one set. Sometimes 3s or 5s, sometimes higher rep stiff leg deads.

Hope that helps.

Sure thing. That's really surprising your mixed grip is failing you though. I'd try messing around with your mixed grip form (see where the bar rests in your hand/fingers), but also definitely try some chalk if you haven't. It makes a world of difference.

If you are confident in your mixed grip form, it's also worth doing double overhand as much as you can then.

i might try that today
1x20 low weight on standing on 2 plates to work on technique, weak points and grip
I normally do very low reps but super heavy weight. Time to switch things up

Once grip became a limiting factor I started using chalk and a mixed grip, and my grip hasn't been a problem since.

Just tried your routine with the standing on 2 plates and holding it at the top. Much harder than i thought. my max is 365 but i found 225x15 very difficult. Shows that my grip is really weak, which is something i will work on. Thx for sharing with me

My best tip for deadlift grip strength is to do as much of your deadlifting double overhand as possible. Your warmup sets as many work sets as you can. Doing a lot of volume with decent weight on RDLs or SLDLs will help a lot too. If you find that's not enough do some heavy BB holds (or shrugs if you prefer) and DB holds a couple times per week trying to increase time or weight.

Other than that just really emphasize squeezing the fuk out of the bar on deads and really any pulling movement. Use chalk only when you really need it.

Deadlift advice:

1. Don't deadlift.

If someone can pull 800 natty in comp, they've gotta know what they're talking about.

Don't you think it's weird that some accounts average over 200 reps per day, every single day, for years on end?
