Already donate to ASPCA, Friends of Animals, and Animal Aid Unlimited. Is anyone aware of any other really good animal charities? Mainly looking for ones for dogs and/or farm animals.

Rescues almost solely rely on donations to survive.

Still looking for any other suggestions. I may not be the biggest BLM or SJW supporter. But I do care about animals across the globe. Most people don't realize how good they have it when compared to the animals.

Look for local rescues in your area. They always need donations.

There's also bigger shelters like Best Friends in Utah. I know the Misc hates pit bulls, but there are some great rescues out there doing good work.

Edit: how do you find credible rescues. Apparently a lot of them here bring dogs in and act like a rescue but just do it for profit

2nd, 3nd, 4rd or whatever I am on this suggestion. Sometimes they need help volunteering. In fact, most of them the people running them are forking out most of the money on their own dime, not to even mention their own time.

Talk to people you know who may have adopted pets from local rescues to get an idea. Then you can further research once you have names. Also make sure that they are 501(c)(3). You really should research as there are definitely some bad rescues out there.

Reminder that ASPCA and Humane Society are massive political organizations with ties to the extreme left nutballs of the world. Your money is much better spent by donating to a local independent outfit.

Got a domestic call from a lady who called about her abusive boyfriend. Arrived on scene, spoke to her about the incident. She mentioned that he also had warrants. Coincidentally at that time he was walking down the street a block away and she pointed out that that was him.
I called his name out, and he fled on foot. I chased him to a home that he locked himself inside of. After searching the residence and taking him into custody I saw the puppy balled up in the corner.
Nobody wanted him and I took the owner to jail (subsequently prison).
He became mine. He's such a sweet dog.

Interesting you say that. Hunting is pretty popular around here, someone was saying that he went to get a dog from the local spca. He had a camo hat on and the staff asked if he's a hunter, he said yes, they wouldn't adopt the dog to him. Don't know the guy personally, but with you saying that it makes it more believable.Wow crazy. I always hear about these stories of people finding abandoned dogs, but I've never come across one.

Puppers wasn't abandoned, but the owner (the POS guy) was the abusive owner and the girlfriend didn't want puppers after I took the BF away.

Yeah I feel ya. Meant other stories, like it's such a common thing to find puppers that need rescued, strays or cruelty situations, but I've never come across it personally.

It really sucks man. Makes you feel like most people shouldn't even own animals. I see homeless people all the time. Most of them live that way by choice, imo. It's the homeless animals that really get to me.

Yeah they spend a ton of money on lobbyists, pander to hollywood celebrities, and do dumb chit like go after hunters and fishermen. I'd rather my money be spent actually helping animals.

Only donate to local shelters or places you have been. Independent is best.

yeah I hear ya. try to help both outCrazy. Would love to donate some time to a local rescue, but a lot of them have scaled back big time due to pandemic.

Also, you, yourself can help. Adopting one dog basically saves two. You save the dog you adopt, and make room for another dog at the rescue/foster. Even if you just foster them, although I'd get too attached.

My four dogs, all are somewhat rescues. One, she was going to go to a puppy rescue and I took her in, and really wasn't ready for a puppy. It wasn't easy, but she's the best thing that ever happened to me. My Sara is now 12, and just a perfect dog. Then Laddie, she is a pit my GF picked up in bad shape when she was a puppy. Animal agressive, she has to be kept separate, but she's not a bad dog if she was the only dog. Rosie, a pure black lab, was found with a chain embedded in her neck by some friends of mine. Scared of everyone, it took almost a month before I could even touch her. Now she is the biggest love. She's like condensed sugar. Roxy, not sure what she is, except a mistake. She's coming around. Got her at the pound and she's a total cnt and that's the only way I can descrbe her.

Might be getting a solid black GSD, which will be my first dog I've ever bought but it's from a friend who has two huge pure one's who had puppies.Yeah, so many charities take a portion of their donations and send them to other organizations that aren't charities. To me, this is fraud.There is a legit argument that a lot of hunters use dogs for hunting and aren't too good to them. But yeah, might be a political motive.

Agree that Some hunters use archaic techniques to train their dogs, which some people might consider cruel. Some hunters also run their dogs hard in really cold or hot conditions. There's also a lot of general pet owners that are cruel and a ton of hunters that are super kind to their pets. The reason in the case I was talking about was not due to possibility of the guy being cruel to the dog, but the SPCA's stance on the ethics of hunting itself.

What do you guys think about rescues that bring over dogs from overseas I.e Syria, Thailand, Korea etc. Think these ones are trustworthy?

Just research them before you donate. I'd think there are some legit ones and some non legit ones.
