I cycle a bit. I bought clipped shoes because they feel a lot better on the bike, and padded shorts because a two hour ride will chap your ass.

Both are all black though, and everything else is just what I would regularly wear. No gay ass jerseys or names from manufacturers I don't even know plastered all over me like a pretentious fuk.

I just like to ride down rural roads, look for moose and bear and chit, listen to podcasts and get some exercise.

****s. i walk a lakefront trail everyday. and there are so many cyclists dressed like this...for what?? with the shoes, spandex clothes with some no name logos on them, the special sunglasses, etc.

i assume they're the type of upper middle class champagne socialists who love having a gay son to show off how broad-minded they are.

They let us wear the whole gear on Bolivia Death Road biking. I plan to buy a bike next year and will wear as much protective gear as possible(no spandex though). Why? Cuz here, it is not bike friendly and drivers are reckless.

I don't care what other people do, but I never would buy any of that stuff.

I ride at least 100 miles per week, and don't own a single piece of "bike gear". I don't even own a helmet. I bought my bike for $100 on Craigslist like 4 years ago and have put 10,000+ miles on it.

A good friend of mine is also an avid cyclist, and he probably owns $10,000 in bike gear outside of his actual bike.

Now sometime in the next year or so I'll probably buy a new awesome bike that ends up costing me $1000-1500. But that's a bike that I'll probably ride 20,000 miles on.

look at the top cyclists. They all share a similar physique. you need to be small or youll catch too much drag, and flexible enough to stay in the "aero" position. It takes years of training to be able to stay in that position for days on end, many cyclists in the top of the field downsize 1-2 frame sizes so their seat to bar ratio is high.

there are no bloatmaxes or manmores winning races. they are 150lbs at most.

They're called weekend warriors. Talked about this in my exercise biomechanics lesson. Unless you're averaging 95RPM on the bike, those things don't benefit in any way.
