Feelsgoodman. I feel like im rediscovering life. Honestly the worst part about being sober is the boredom but atleast now im not filling the boredom with alcohol, instead I am forced to become a productive member of society.

Good luck brother.

Just remember you are happy with who you are when you are sober.

You don’t need alcohol or any substance to be happy.

I was averaging a handle every two days or so. Most of the time at night alone in front of the computer.

Bro no offense but unless your wife just isn't the brightest bulb there is NO way she didn't notice that lol

A handle every two days is pretty serious, you def smelt like booze like a mofo, among other numerous tell tale signs.

Edit - Just seen your post above

Regardless, congrats on getting sober man. I've never been a true day to day alcoholic but I'll go on really nasty binges every now and then, sh!t is fun the first 1-2 days and then the rest of the week(or however long it lasts) is fairly miserable before I "quit" for a week or two.

It's actually really easy to hide it/not notice. I was in a relationship with a bish whose family are alcoholics and it took me about four months to realize it. Once day I saw him putting a 30 in a Yeti cooler at 8am and then at 2pm, I saw him dumping another 30 in because his brother and him killed that 30 already srs. That's when I was like yeah you guys have a problem.
I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time; never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the American people. Thank you.

I was with my wife for over 6 years before my alcoholism got so bad I had to go sober. She had no clue it was as bad as it was. Just thought I drank a normal amount.

that's pretty remarkable

there's no reason to go cold turkey with alcohol though, given the potential danger

tapering off over a couple weeks if possible would have been ideal

sounds like you're in the clear probably though

I did act like a fool plenty of times but still had some restraint. Most nights I wouldnt even remember the last couple hours of the night, rarely remember even getting into bed. She definately knew I had a problem but didnt know the magnitude. Also my tolerance was crazy high and I weight around 300lbs. Ive already dropped around 10 15lbs since stopping since my diet would go to **** while drinking

Jesus. My max if I'm alone is 3 beers. Usually 1 or even none on a work night. Friday or Saturday night I might have 3 or 4 beers and a shot or 2 and I'm feeling good after that.

Really happy for you OP, along with Duckliver and anyone else who has truly gotten sober.

My typical binge is one-two weeks where I would daily buy a 12 pack of something strong(bud light platinum, sam adams rebel ipa, etc) and drink 9-12 of those EVERY night.

Eventually I always snap out of it after a week, two tops because I'm tired of feeling like sh!t the first 3-4 hours of the day.

But a handle every two days? That's just brutal, thank God you quit dude srs

Yea brah, even I cant believe how bad it got. On days I would decide to day drink when off I would easily go through an entire handle.

And I wish I did go to bed at the same time as my wife. Would save me alot of heartache

good job

chit is poison to every aspect of your life

being able to do it cold turkey of your own volition means you internalized the reason you're quitting, and that makes fighting off the urges easier imo
