Metal brahs what are some good bands you've discovered recently?

Been listening to a lot of newer bands and these 2 definitely stood out. Really solid death metal. Got anymore bands to check out?

This is more German atmospheric/black metal but the riffs are catchy.

That's pretty good. I've only been able to get into a few atmospheric black metal bands like Mare Cognitum and Saor. This sounds promising, I like what I'm hearing so far.

Nice, I know the bassist plays in a couple of bands like Behold the Arctopus and Dysrhythmia but I've never really listened to Krallice before. So I'll definitely check it out since I like tech and progressive death metal.

Those are good bands. Saor blew me away when I first started listening to him - a really well put together one man project.

Not too push you too far into the atmospheric stuff, but check out the first track off this - it has a powerful melody starting at 4:30 which they reference a few times throughout the tune.

I don't like signatures.

I've always wondered what throat singing could sound like in metal. I checked it out and it's not bad, although I wish it was a bit heavier. Pretty cool tho to see people mixing different folk styles into metal.

Cool man that is a pretty tight riff there. I dig the synths that they use as well. I think I've come across their music on Bandcamp before but never gave them a proper listen, sounds solid tho.

There's some truth to that. I mainly find myself listening to bands I discovered 10+ years ago, but there's still some good bands releasing music currently. What bands do you listen to? I can try to recommend some.

Nice man, from listening to the intro I thought it was gonna be a cyber metal band, but it sounds more melodeath. Solid regardless, and the guitars are really crisp in that mix.

If you like melodic death metal, this album came out last year and is surprisingly good.

Korpiklaani is another favorite of mine.
And even though I'm sure you've heard of them, Alestorm is fun.
The Hu also does a song with Jacoby Shaddix that is a little bit harder and more mainstream.

Yeah man I think Aether released an album last year too if I remember correctly, good melodeath band as well.

Hell yeah, Alestorm is awesome. I haven't checked out their newer music but I used to listen to them a ton a few years ago. This song is still freakin epic as ever.


Korpiklaani sounds pretty tight too, kinda reminds a bit of Ensiferum. They definitely make good use of the accordion and violin, production quality is top notch.

Like a power metal version of Steel Panther but about dragons and wizards instead of banging sloots. Alestorm is 'pirate metal' and is mostly about drinking and other pirating shenanigans. It's pretty fukking hilarious but they're damn good musicians. The singer also started Gloryhammer but they have a different guy on vocals.

I've only listened to one Powerwolf song and it was about a legend of Armenian werewolves but wasn't a joke or anything though their whole corpse paint/goth power metal shtick is a little over the top.

Nice, good to see that Alestorm is still as epic and hilarious as I remember. I didn't know the vocalist had another band, sounds good but I usually like bands that are a bit faster like Blind Guardian or Cellador. Powerwolf is pretty cool, hadn't heard of them either. It's been a few years since I've checked out new power metal bands but I'll definitely be checking out some new releases and hearing what's out there.

I do like some BG and Cellador among others though not really into the classic power metal as much as other types. With the lockdown bullchit though I've been exploring and found some pretty good stuff.

Unleash The Archers are pretty amazing though they're not new, just to me. Canadian heavy/power metal, the vocalist is a chick and her range is crazy.








Also should check out Lovebites, all female Japanese band with Maiden, Dragonforce, and classic thrash influences. The singer's voice/vocals take some getting used to though. I didn't like her at first but she grew on me and the band itself is amazing.

Nice man, both those bands are more up my alley. I think I'd heard of Unleash the Archers before but never gave them a proper listen, I dig the guitars riffs and speed of the music. Hadn't heard of Lovebites before, they do sound a bit like DragonForce although that first song reminds me a lot of another Japanese band I like, Galneryus. The guitar leads in that 3rd song are pretty badass.

UTA is dropping a new album later this month. They've been around for like 10 years I think. Definitely worth checking out more of.

I've listened to a little bit of Galneryus, Angel of Salvation which is great and a couple others. The guitarist is amazing.

Lovebites actually toured with Dragonforce last year in Europe I think. The dual guitars and soloing are definitely similar to them as well as Priest. The bassist started the band and played in a Pantera cover band in high school, which is pretty awesome, and they bring in some classic thrash as well.

They are great live and had more clips on YT but they get pulled down constantly for copyright. Here are a couple more heavier album tracks.

Have heard of them. Haven't given Singularity a full listen yet because i end up stumbling across albums that catch my attention and just end up forgetting. I think i do have their album on my wishlist to remember to pick up the album.

I don't think it's any new bands per se for me, more so new albums from bands I already knew of. Depends what kind of metal you're into, but I've always been into thrash and groove metal. 2020 has been an excellent year so far.

Take a look at Testament's new record. Also, have a look at both Havok and Exhorder's new records. All amazing stuff.

Example:



This album is so fuking solid. Some of Chuck's best vocals ever.
*Look at reflection in car window and flex every time crew*
*Use half the roll to wipe after a poo crew*
*Fart in the gym and blame rotten smell on faulty ventilation crew*
