Bought a new mattress, suddenly itchy and feeling like i have asthma

My skin on my chest is also red like it's agitated.

Now i looked up the reviews and some say that their entire house was ruined due to opening the cover and fiberglass got everywhere when the label says ''don't remove the cover''.

I figured if i simply follow the instructions, i should be fine. After all it has 4 star ratings with over 40000 reviews.

But now since i've unpacked it and it swelled up into its supposed size.
Suddenly i feel like i have asthma. Breathing is heavy, my skin is itchy and is red.
And i'm wondering: Did the fiberglass already got released? Is it this mattress that i just unpacked causing it?
Or is it just a coincidence?

returning the mattress will suck since it won't fit in the box anymore. but i definitely don't want to ruin my health sleeping on this if it's a health hazard.

I know it has a lot of good reviews, but I wouldn’t have the highest expectations getting a cheap Chinese bed. You inhale the chemicals 8 hours a day for years. Not something I would cheap out on

Edit: first google result “Chinese-made memory foam often contains harmful chemicals, and is typically manufactured in an open-air environment, with no limits on pollutants released into the atmosphere. Many also use banned or toxic chemicals as pest deterrents and flame retardants, which aren't necessarily required to be disclosed”

DUde I had that bed its ****, srs. You overheat like crazy on it. You cant have sex or even jerk off on it because it overheats really really fast. It would also make me break out in hives sometimes due to the heat and dryness. Not worth the couple hundred you save.

All mattresses give off chemicals when brand new and taken out of the plastic. Let it air out for a couple days and it will be fine.

based upon reading the poor reviews, i would immediately throw out this mattress. it sounds like there's tiny fiberglass shards that are leaking into your environment. i would get rid of the mattress ASAP. then contact customer service and try to get a refund WITHOUT shipping it back. if they give you a refund, great. if not, i would just eat the cost of the mattress. you need to get that thing out of your house ASAP. i would not f**k around with trying to ship it back. lesson learned, cost of doing business. just write it off to experience. good luck and keep us posted.

Amazon said they don't want it back. Gave me a refund but now i'm stuck with a fiberglass health hazard mattress.
Anyone want it?

The asthma and itching has been reduced. Could've been the gas that was inside the plastic that caused it?
still i'm highly sketch about this mattress now with said fiberglass.

Ya, I'd actually be expecting no black mold or lung irritants but perhaps asking for a lot lately.

Also, you probably have COVID, and perhaps AIDS now as well OP.

I think its the solvent based glue. I saw a can of adhesive in the back of a mattress store. It was illegal in 17 states.

It was called "gluey the 14th" or something.

Fireworks are easier to get than the glue in some mattresses.

BECAUSE...The mattress is SO comfortable, and we love it.....
I bought a 12" Queen for my boyfriend for Christmas. Upon opening it, we smelled a strong mildew smell. We let it rise fully, for 2 days, once it had fully risen we took the cover off of the mattress and washed it. In the meantime, I stood the mattress up on it's side to air it out. Sprayed it with febreeze and put the washed mattress cover and clean sheets on the bed. I thought that had done the trick however with in a week it was back. Now, you can smell it as soon as you walk into the apartment. I can't imagine what it is going to be like when summer gets here. Now, three months later and my boyfriend has been dealing with sinus/headache issues in the last month. I am concerned that there is a connection between his issues and the mattress!! So, he has been sleeping on his couch :/

ZINUS PLEASE HELP!! BECAUSE AS FAR AS COMFORTABILITY WE ARE 100% SATISFIED..... BUT CAN NO LONGER DEAL WITH THE SMELLESPECIALLY IF IT IS CAUSING HEALTH ISSUES!

brah you have black mold and fiberglass lmao

It's a single, so it only cost $110.

I've bought things before where people claimed a product would break after a week or something, yet they always worked for it.
So instead of looking at the few bad ratings, i look at the overall rating.
Just didn't think this would cause problems as long as i didn't open the cover.

Lol no black mold on mine yet. But it might be prone to mold. Then again i read this bout other memory foam mattresses as well.

I want to get a queen sized bed. But the mattresses are all near 1k. And you don't even get a tempur one. Those are around $2500.
That's money i don't have right now.
And i don't want to spend close to a $1000 if the mattress isn't absolutely great, because i'll be sleeping on it for the next 10 years.

I figured i'd buy a new mattress for my chitty single bed while i save some more. So i can buy a legit bed next year.
Didn't want more coil springs stabbing my spine, so this mattress seemed like a great deal for the price. But if it's too good to be true, it usually is though.

I wonder if i get a mattress cover that's made of plastic or something with a zipper, will that prevent any possible glass fibers from coming out?
Then i could still sleep on it safely.
