miscers with kids - sending them back to school or virtual?

Title, interested to see what side you land on.

August 31st they are starting in person for K-12 in my district, today is the last day to enroll for 100% virtual/offsite.

That's problem because... science and what not!!

My 15yo is starting her Jr. year via virtual learning and returning to in person class early september. But that is the only option the school district is offering so it is what it is. Not sure what a month longer is going to improve or else she would be going in person now. This BS isnt going anywhere so cant hide like a little bitch your entire life...

Both my kids have been in daycare, it closed down for like a month but its been open now for a couple months. Teachers are required to wear masks and I have to take their temp at drop off.

My son went back last week, he wanted to. I don't have an issue with it because the school has taken precautions to keep the kids as safe as possible and my son is as healthy as a horse anyway. My daughter starts her senior year in college in a week and the college is completely virtual.

When it comes to my kids, yeah I'm gonna err on the side of safety.

Taking a semester or two virtually won't turn everyone into social retards anymore than social media already has.

It won't be long before they're off into the world, why not enjoy a little more time with them while you can?

TBH not sure how the county is getting around it, State mandated 100% virtual in most counties, Feds want all reopened in person.

I do. School district here (illinois) voted unanimously to teach virtually for the first semester.

I also have the luxury of working from home so I don't have to consider things like who will be here with them.

I realize not everyone does.

My kids are going back 2 days/week and virtual the rest. I'd prefer if they went every day. They hang out with a lot of their friends that will be on the opposite days anyway, so what's even the point?

My law school semester started virtual. Personally I’d prefer in person and I’d risk it.

Kids it’s hit or miss. I think it’s VALUABLE for them to learn in person, but I also understand the desire to keep them home. I also don’t think you should waste a year so idk.

My sons college is 100% virtual this fall. I've seen a lot of school districts say they are going to be virtual as well, but don't know about all districts in my state. What's weird is another college is bringing the kids onto campus for like a month, then they'll be virtual until winter. Don't know how that makes sense or how they'll keep so many kids who have to share dorms from potentially exposing all of them.

Public school teachers have been caught saying they want kids to NOT have parents around, saying they don't want parents to hear them etc.

Yes, even down to kindergarten, indoctrination.

My kids go back on schedule, 5 days a week. They are taking as many precautions that are realistically possible. Remote learning for 7 year olds is very difficult, especially when my one daughter has ADHD.

My daughter's school is remote for the first 3 weeks, then it's supposed to go to optional after that -either fully remote or fully in person.

We're going with in person because:

-She's going into first grade, and remote learning was absolutely worthless for kindergarten, and will likely be the same. I basically became her teacher.
-She's an only child so she desperately needs the social interaction aspect of in-person. If I had an older kid I wouldn't worry about this as much
-She already did several weeks of summer camp and it went fine, no kids or counselors got it
-Kids aren't even affected by this shiit

In Cali so all remote. 7th grader and Junior.

I'm most concerned about the 7th grader that needs socialization. She didn't have a ton of friends before the lock down, but the lack of socialization the last 5 months is starting to take its toll.

For many years in person learning has been the best option for virtually anyone. World seemed to change March 19th.

9/11 could at least confirm that the building collapse killed all those people. Not so sure about COVID.

I think the people who were going to home school would be doing so in the first place. Tough to do another full time job among an existing full time job.

Kinda agree tbh. Strange how I haven't seen countless deaths of children posted or even mentioned until the school reopening arguments come up.
