If you have had all your vaccines why would you get irate at some autist who decides to forego the vaccine? Logic would suggest that you are fully protected and can't catch anything seeing as you are vaccinated.

I am no scientist, but i believe that if viruses are allowed to spread they will likely mutate and at some point be able to infect people who have the vaccine.

The short answer is that the measles vaccine, like most vaccines, is not 100% bulletproof (although it is something like 95% effective).

Imagine a school with 100 kids: 50 are vaccinated and 50 are not. A measles outbreak will essentially impact all 50 of the non-vaccinated kids, but only 1-2 of the vaccinated.

Still, if you're the parent of that 1 kid, how are you going to feel about the parents who ostensibly infected your kid?

At that particular point what good would it do you to feel one way or another about that 1 kids parents? serious question... It would just be extra hate and baggage to carry around that doesn't solve your current problem.

Im NOT anti-vax but I think pumping live viruses into newborn babies right after they've been delivered with little to no immune system has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen..When they are vaccinating your kid day one for diseases they probably wont ever encounter (much less encounter in the first year of life) shows they dont care about YOUR kid, they care about the herd.

You SHOULD vaccinate if you dont have a kid with a compromised system but you should spread the vaccinations out over time. You massively reduce the risk to your child and still get the benefit if you vaccinate prior to school starting..but who was logic.

One problem is that there are people who can't be vaccinated because they have medical and genetic issues. One stupid person who doesn't vaccinate their kids can spread measles or some other preventable disease to others who can't be vaccinated.

Vaccines greatly reduce the chance of contracting a virus but it isn't 100% guaranteed. However, if enough people get the vaccine, you can basically "eradicate" a virus or disease by bringing the risk down to basically non-existent levels.

For example, around 95% of those who get the measles vaccine develops immunity. If somebody without the measles vaccine contracts the virus and spreads it to 100 people, about 5 people will contract the virus, and those 5 can then spread it. However, if that person was vaccinated, there's a 95% chance it wouldn't have spread and also a less chance that the person in question wouldn't have gotten the virus from somebody else in the first place. You see how it could quickly spiral out of control if the number of those unvaccinated were higher.

Look up herd immunity. It also protects people who for health reasons is unable to take the vaccine by reducing the opportunity for it to spread. It also has less opportunity to mutate, although for measles most mutations would deleterious in nature which is why we don't have a different vaccine each year.

73% of cases in the US have been linked to those who have not gotten vaccinated and there was about 1200 confirmed cases in the US in 2019. So people with the vaccine can indeed still contract the virus

The flu vaccine is different from measles because the flu vaccine constantly mutates and the vaccines aren't very effective versus certain strains. I think around 40-50% effective but still has prevented many deaths. It's basically a guessing game almost to figure out which will be the most dominant strain.

A few people not being vaccinated isn't a huge deal for certain viruses, but if that few amount of people eventually turns into 50% of the population, it might be a problem.



Also don't get mad at me, just stating the logic and science behind it. As far as rights go that's a different issue.
