You should be spent after doing squats or deadlifts, so never on the same day.

There’s a whole lot of lifters out there who would disagree with you on this one.

Plenty of powerlifters who squat, bench and deadlift on the same day.

And there is a chit ton of conjugate style lifters who deadlift after squats.

Back day and I make sure to take a rest day in between back and leg day. Tried squatting the next day after a heavy deadlift session. Not a good idea at all.

As a former powerlifter, it was rare that I did them on the same day. It was only after my program moved to two days a week, that I did that. Otherwise, if I was doing a three day a week routine, deads were always on the middle day. IMHO, you're not giving full attention to either squats or deads if you do them on the same day.

I do full body 4x a week and do deadlifts on 2 of those days.

you can squat and deadlift on the same day, you obviously don't go balls to the wall and try to max out on both. and you can squat one day and deadlift the next day. I thought it would destroy my recovery but like most things the body is quite resilient and can adapt well to alot of things over time. obviously things change as you get older and stronger.

Currently I DL heavy on Monday and Squat heavy on Wednesday. Squats are usually followed by speed pulls around 65-75% of DL max.

Leg day, which is the day after back day. I’ve been told this is wrong though. So don’t listen to me.

I did speed pulls following squats for several months and I liked it.

Right now I squat on Saturday and Deadlift on Wednesday, and I front squat after deadlift.

Yes.

Right now I run a 5 day split, push Monday, pull Tuesday, legs Wednesday (squat/quad focus this day) rest Thursday, push Friday, then do a pull/leg combo Saturday.

So on Saturday I'll start off with a deadlift variation, follow up with reverse hypers or ham curls and leg extensions, then move onto back work. This way I'm fully recovered from squats on the day I deadlift and vice versa, and hit every muscle group 2×/week.

I don't really do conventional deadlifts anymore but when I did it was always on my back day. No matter how you spin it. Your going to be stimulating your legs and back with the movement. I always felt it more in my back.

I briefly gave a sumo pull a try and I thought it was better suited to leg day.

Back day to prime myself for pull ups usually--I can do more pull ups after deadlifting, which seems weird, but I think is just from the muscles activating better.

Where did this "deadlifts build your back" bs start? It's a hip hinge movement.

I DL twice a week, once with other hamstring work (db RDLs) and another with squats/Leg Press
