lil peep had one song that might have been decent. MGK is talented as hell, and while blink 182ish music was never my taste, he isn't bad at it.

This is like dollar store pop punk, watered down, manufactured, painfully forced caricature of what he thinks pop punk should be.

These would be hits early 2000s when pop punk was peaking. These are all produced by Travis barker the king of punk

I don't think so, usually you get a feel of that angst through their vibe in songs. The whiny/snotty vocals, the desperation, the bliss of being self indulgent and only caring about girls is what I liked about the old pop punk. Like All time low, Cute is what we aim for, Blink, red jump suit apparatus even Panic!. This seems like a cheap emulation, MGK doesn't give off that vibe. It sounds ok, but not that good to me. That's just the impression I get from him, seems forced. It's missing the spirit of the teen angst/struggle to understand newfound situations. I feel like MGK has been through the mill and this chit feels novel to him, this kind of sound but the execution doesnt feel organic.

He really has a bad singing voice IMO, this type of music could work with a better artist. He's ok as a rapper though.

Brah the true pop punk era was finishing up by 2006 and emo was taking over.

Pop punk like blink, sum41, newfound glory etc peaked 99-2004
