Watched Forrest Gump again, triggered
Great movie srs. I appreciated it much more now I'm older. Was anyone else triggered by the storyline though? He chases after this sloot Jenny who runs away a comical amount of times. Treats him like absolute trash and spends all her young adult life doing drugs with hippies and taking as much cok as possible.
To add to that, she dies of AIDS, and only when she knows she's going to die does she agree to marry him. This is only moments after she decides to let him know he has a 5 year old son just lol.
The movie tries to make her actions justified because she got molested by her dad. That happens to a lot of boys and girls, not everyone just lets it destroy their life though.

Jenny was never meant to be seen as any kind of moral Paragon. The relationship between Fowst and Jenny has it's foundations in childhood, they were all the other one had when it came to real friends. Then they were close friends all through college, before Jenny's drug problems/destructive lifestyle began.
I would say Fowst put up with her BS and agreed to marry her as he was the only woman he had ever loved and was blinded by all else. Plus, he was probably the least red-pilled man alive.

This is one of the more cynical parts of an otherwise really sentimental movie. If it's not already obvious, Forrest is meant to be a metaphor for Jesus Christ. He can do things that ordinary men would never do (like forgive Jenny for 30 years of bull****). I'm still not sure if I like that aspect of the plot-the film works for the most part because Forest is an Everyman type character that we can sympathize with, EXCEPT his relationship with Jenny. That part is so improbable it makes the character feel quite distant and difficult to relate to.

There’s no way that could have been written back then. According to this board before 2012 this kind of thing never happened.

Forrest Gump is weird in the sense it's an Oscar bait movie released in summer. Has there ever been a summer Oscar bait movie sense then? Maybe Gladiator, was that Oscar bait?

The movie tries to make her actions justified because she got molested by her dad. That happens to a lot of boys and girls, not everyone just lets it destroy their life though.

She even wonders why Forrest is so good to her, because she doesn’t think she deserves it. He replies “you’re my girl”.
I used to work in the industry of sexual assault victims and abusers, it fuks people up more than you could possibly imagine. I still don’t quite grasp it.

Hands down the most triggering part was when she hopped onto the bus with that commie who hit her... right after Gump had given her his Medal of honour and then gave him the 'i'll always be your girl' god dammit.
