Note the tail differences between the Cooper's and Red-tailed hawks. The Cooper's has a relatively long, narrow tail with light and dark horizontal bands while the Red-tailed Hawk has a relatively short and wide tail without the obvious banding.

I stand corrected. Though chicken hawk is not really an actual subspecies.
In the United States, chickenhawk or chicken hawk is an unofficial designation for three species of North American hawks in the family Accipitridae: Cooper's hawk, also called a quail hawk, the sharp-shinned hawk, and the red-tailed hawk. The term "chicken hawk", however, is inaccurate. Although Cooper's and sharp-shinned hawks do primarily hunt other birds, chickens do not make up a significant part of their diets; red-tailed hawks may opportunistically hunt free-range poultry, but are chiefly predators of mammals such as rodents and rabbits.

Ok looks like a young coopers hawk. I looked up some pics and that's the closest one. There were two of them on that branch. The other one is hidden to the left. I didn't like the way they were looking at me
