Misc Runners - Do You Eat More?

Do you eat more to make up for burned calories? I eat 2500calories most of the time, but if I run, esp run long and hard(no homo), I can easily burn 1k calories.

Depends on what my goal is. If I'm cutting, no. If I was bulking and solely running for cardiovascular health, yes, I would eat more. I am cutting at the moment so I stick to my normal diet to help with calorie deficit. I regularly burn 1000 calories on my runs too!

Yes I do. If my limit was 1500 cals/day and I do about 500 calories worth of cardio, I consider my limit as 2000 calories.

Also, easily burning 1000 calories? Are you guys running 8-10 miles?

More or less. I LOVE walking/running, esp with gym closed here since March, need to do something to kill extra time. Just relaxing and makes me think. I dedicate 2 hours 5x/week.

Running shoes die fast though.

Yes. I've been running a lot in this quarantine specially because the gym's closed and I typically run all the way from 10 to 20 miles. I did push myself too far a week ago with a 25 mile run, so I'm resting my feet before my next run.

On an average week I’ll run ~25 miles and will lift maybe 4-5 times? I don’t really count macros after so many years but I do know that if I don’t run I put on about 5 pounds after a week or two if I’m eating the same amount. So no, I don’t eat more. Mostly because my goal is overall health and not increasing lifts.

Not sure about running but I’ve been using my forced period of unemployment (self employed can’t work atm) to try to hone a hobby of mine, traditional archery. It’s common for me to shoot 3 hours or so a day atm. Pulling back 35-65 lbs. hundreds of times and walking ~40 yards every 5-6 times apparently burns calories. I’ll eat normally about 2500 calories to maintain and I can easily eat 3500, 4000 now and I have not gained fat. I can’t see how running wouldn’t be similar if done long enough.

No for some reason appetite is crushed during and after the long run, it is as if the body goes into a non hunger mode for the next 8 hours.

He's still burning calories if he's doing it for as long as he says per day (skeptical).

I shoot too, an I don't see how he can shoot for 3 hours.

Anyways OP, give us a mileage or something. I run but it's usually speed work or no more than a slow and easy 3 miles so I still eat around 2500-3000 calories and I lift

Pull 65 pounds back 30 inches with your right hand (thumb in my case) while holding it rock steady with your left and hold it 3 seconds, do that 400 times. Come back and tell me that’s not exercise.

Two sets of like an hour and half. One in the morning and one in h evening. Very doable if you build up to it.

What do you shoot?

Cool, compound is powerful. I’m the opposite, very old school composite bow (sinew, yew, horn) and arrows I make. I’m going to take the setup hunting soon - we will see :P.
