Don't know why everyone is talking about an origin story, I didn't get that at all from the trailer.
I always thought they should just let Batman embrace the whole fantasy world seeing as what he does is ridiculous anyways.

I don't like Affleck but I liked the version of Batman portrayed in Justice League. An older, harder, seasoned Batman who's willing to do what it takes beyond just naive ideals.

I read somewhere awhile back that Batman took some kind of oath or had a code where he wouldn't kill anyone. And in Justice League we basically see a hardened Batman who's willing to do whatever it takes. Including killing whomever is in his path.

I like a darker take on him.
This movie follows the comics "Year One Batman" where it's Batman's first year of fighting crime, figuring it all out.

Hence why Batman is younger / angrier / skinnier

Pattinson is a good actor, but Batman should not be in DYEL mode. We live in an age where actors drink the juice for roles. Scrawny Michael Keaton style Batman don't cut the mustard today. They will probably need a body double and CGI like they did with Fatfleck.
Overall it looks like this Batman is just poverty. He's wearing off the shelf boots, his car is like a white-trash muscle car, his masks looks like his mom made it, uh I mean Alfred. (too soon?)

Only saving grace is Matt Reeves. He has a good track record. Liked his take on the Apes.
supposedly its where batman is barely starting being batman so it makes sense he isnt big yet and rough around the edges

i agree. i think they need to introduce something new. that was why dark knight was so good; brought an extremely gritty/ real feel to the superhero genre

i'm sure pattinson will be good, but he's not who i imagine when i imagine clark kent

You meant Bruce Wayne. This is doing something new..... it's leaning heavily into Batman as a detective. Previous film entries didn't do that.

That makes no sense at all. Bruce Wayne trained for his whole life before becoming the Bat. If anything he should be at his thickest solidest and tightest since he' hasn't had years of no-rest and constant crime fighting yet.

Nolan got this right. Bale was his biggest in Begins, then slimmed down but still strong looking and all bruised up in the Dark Knight.

No opinion on Patterson but that trailer makes the movie look like it’s gonna be garbage
