Is accidentally oversleeping not a good excuse?
I recently over slept and missed a class. I told people about it and they looked at me like I was leper.
This isn’t a common thing for me, but it did happen. Why is this different from any other “chit happens” scenario.
I don’t believe I deserved to be skewered for this mistake.

because it as your third time MISSING a class when your syllabus clearly stated you could only miss 2.
Then you wanted to blame your professor and go over his head.
That is why you were being skewered, not because you overslept one day.

Oversleeping happens once in a great while but as far as excuses go it's a pretty bad one... it's too easily prevented, usually caused by your own carelessness.
Last time I overslept was because I had a sinus infection which reduced my hearing by like 80%. It was so bad that my alarm clock wasn't loud enough to wake me up despite being right next to me lmao. I still felt like an idiot trying to explain that to people.

The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

It is not a good excuse, but it happens. When it does, you need to be a man and take responsibility. You didn't want to take responsibility. You wanted to blame your professor and turn him into the bad guy. He was right that you were acting like a bratty child, not a grown man.

Accidentally oversleeping and apologising for it is beta, deliberately oversleeping because warm bed is better than lecture hall is alpha. Especially if there's a naked sloot oversleeping with you. Just lol @ universities dictating that you must attend class, or are you in high school?

If you do an easy degree however, then just do the hw at home, get a job and come out debt free.

My alarm clock goes up to 113 dB, but I don't keep it that high. It also vibrates my entire bed so it was impossible to no wake up. Then finally I put it just far enough away from my bed where I can't reach it. I sleep for 6-7 hours each night. Once you get into the rhythm of sleeping for that long, you start to just do it naturally. I could be piss ass drunk on Saturday night, and I will wake up 6 hours later automatically, and I need to force myself back to sleep.
If you did miss 3 classes when you could only miss 2, then that's on you bro. I had classes where if you missed 2 classes it was an automatic failure, no questions asked.

MAYBE not the case in your situation, but that's why people don't respect oversleeping as an excuse.
