My window has an air vent on top. It's infested with mold and there's no way to clean it out, unless i sprayed it with a water hose or dumped boiled water on it with a bucket.
Of course to do this, i'd have to remove the entire window.

I pay extra a month to be insured in case stuff breaks in this rental property.
So i call and 1 tradie shows up, says he will call a tradie that specializes in glass windows after being useless himself.
2 weeks later, the glass tradie shows up, says yep this entire window needs replacing, i'll put an order in.
1 month later, new tradie shows up and installs a little vent, on top of the existing, mold infested ventilation area that's built in the window itself.
No replacement nothing. So i'm still stuck with the same problem, except now i can't clean it at all anymore because the add-on vent is screwed in over the original.

Fast forward, last week i call again. Complain and they say we'll send a new tradie on friday.
I wait all day friday and the tradie never shows up. No cancelation, no warning, nothing.
Fukking tradies man. meanwhile this mold is just killing me slowly.

Cliffs: Tradies won't replace the air vent on my window that's broken and covered in mold which i can't reach to clean.
Instead simply screwed a vent on top of the old broken mold infested vent and called it a day after 2 months of waiting and 3 different visits.

Will call again tomorrow. No one is accepting defeat here. Tradies will do my bidding in the end.Knew something was up when the mechanic was done within 10 minutes and peaced out. Didn't notice until i went to see the results for myself.

good luck. make sure when you call, you specify that the last guy just covered up a mold issue. Not FIXED but covered it up like a lazy turd.

Some new tradie showed up yesterday unannounced.
Takes a look at the new cheap air vent mounted on top of original the broken mold infested air vent and tells me ''This is the best we can do''.
Which is completely different from what the previous tradies told me.

Then he tells me: All you can do is request a new frame for said window.
I ask him if the place that i pay the insurance to, will agree with that.
And he says no they won't. So he basically gave me a useless ''solution'.

I compromise and say, the issue is the mold.
Can you lift the window and put it in the backyard so i can spray the mold out with a water hose. (i'm on the second floor)
And he says ''No we don't do that, you're on your own. And if you drop the window, you're reliable and have to pay for a new window)

So basically i'm fukked.
Oh and get this: The tradie called the problem ''the original air vent isjust a little dirty
This idiot doesn't even know the difference between some dirt and black mold that causes numerous health problems.
People suck.

Can i unscrew the new air vent? Of course.
But i wasn't able to clean the mold from the original air vent, before the new one was installed over it.
So what's the point?

The only way to clean it from said mold, is to spray it out with garden hose or dump buckets of hot water + bleach on it.
I can't do that in my bedroom. And if i try to carry a window downstairs to the backyard and drop it, it will cost me hundreds of dollars to replace.
