Is severe acne a death sentence?

Especially for young women?

I took ac****ane in my late teens, still have scars and got fked up by the side effects

what sides did you have?

For me it essentially gave me 15 years and counting worth of depression, messed up joints, gyno and low test

I got psychosis from it, tried to contact a lawyer but they said they are only accepting IBD cases, which i sometimes have.

The fuk. I took accutane and I'm perfectly fine. I was a pimply virgin ***got when before I went on Accutane. Transformed into a vagina hunter after I cleared up my acne with accutane. I do have bad knees, but my knees were terrible even before I went on Accutane so..

This is me at 21 now. Acne isn't as bad as when I was 17, but I still have tons of acne compared to normal people, feels like it'll last until I'm fukin 30 or some chit. Is accutane worth it honestly? I know a guy who had pretty bad joint pain and the acne started to come back anyways, albeit not the the extent as it was before.

I had bad cystic acne for nearly 10 years. Nothing fixed it for me, accutane is the only thing that finally cleared up my acne.

The longer you wait, the more you are likely to get permanent scars from your acne. There's a small possibility for side effects, but I had enough of my acne and was more than happy to take the chance.

Best decision I've made.

Serious side effects are extremely rare and even if you get some bad ones, they are almost always temporary. I talked to doctors and an accutane clinic until I was comfortable enough doing it. 6 months of some dry skin. That's it. I don't believe any sht I read in threads like this. Talk to an actual doctor. Not miscers who think accutane gave them corona.

got severe acne on first time dat der. Hot water showers twice a day dried the skin and the problem was solved.

I took accutane twice. Had really bad acne and have scars on my chest. No big deal unless its on your face.

Accutane is bad. Its literally a chemo drug for brain cancer, crosses the blood brain barrier. Makes people depressed. ****s with your lipids. Theres also some evidence that its a 5 a reductase inhibitor so it messes with your hormones.
Yeah definitely got joint pain on it.
I'd never suggest anyone go on it, unless your acne is severe enough to out weight depression, joint pain, hormone disruption, etc.

Most people with severe cystic acne are depressed as fuk anyway. If you've had bad acne for a long time, it fuks up your confidence and personality as well.

If I were to ever have a kid, I'd definitely make him get on Accutane if he has severe acne and none of the alternatives worked.

Accutane is poison, just as finasterida. Ive taken both btw.

Accutane id take it again in a heartbeat, it changed my life. Fin i wouldnt touch it even for 10 million srs.

I had cystic acne on my face/chest/shoulders up until sophomore year of college with some slight scarring left now. Never took accutane since the potential side effects didn't seem worth it to me, but I was on some pretty gnarly steroids and topicals that worked well.

My doctor prescribed me topical Tretinoin and oral Doxycycline on top of my regular face routine. Acne was reduced by like 25% at most but I honestly think it was because I stopped drinking milk or eating a lot because Calcium would inhibit the Doxycycline. The lost gains (wasn't getting enough calories in) and lifestyle changes weren't worth it for such a minuscule victory, so I gave it up. I don't know if I should eventually get on Accutane or just tough it out, the hyperpigmentation and constant oily skin is the fukin worst with no end in sight.

It has various uses, as do countless other drugs when taken in varying doses. Accutane gets a bad rap because some congressmen's kid killed himself when taking it and he made his mission to demonize it because he wanted to pin his son's death on something. Not because there's any evidence that accutane makes you suicidal. Side effects like depression, hormone issues, etc, are again, extremely rare. Additionally, lower-dose accutane taken for longer periods of time have been shown to be just as effective as higher doses (for shorter periods) with an even further decrease in serious side effects.

Like I said, talk to a doctor, do your research, talk to a doctor again, do more research, and then make a decision if you want to take it. Not random people shouting "accutane bad."

I took doxycycline and it cleared me up pretty good considering its just an antibiotic

Fukd my stomach up if i didnt take it with any food...stopped taking it when i got older and skin has been fine

Accutane is a life saver, literally. If you have bad cystic acne, it's 1000000% worth it. It gets a bad rep because idiots who have like 2-3 pimples at a time think their life is over and take it, then get pissed with the dry lips or chit.

Also, severe acne isn't a death sentence. Chit I had super bad acne, now I have a Freddy Kruger face, but still get more than enough girls, enough where my confidence wouldn't be any higher if my face was completely scar free.

Rogaine is asprin and fin is like morphine in comparison

Fin fukd me up...gave me gyno, emo and depressed af...rogaine aint doing none of that

People talk like fin is safe but i think it all depends on your genes and hormones...havent lost much hair after quitting fin and going to rogaine

I dealt with regular zits from age 9 to like 16, its just a part of growing up. What causes this crazy ass acne? Bad diet, lack of washing sheets and pillows and ****?

I look about 5 years younger than my actual age and my secret is I don't do anything to my face except moisturise after shaving.

Isotretinoin is used for the treatment of severe acne. Psychiatric side-effects, particularly depression, have been well-documented. This dramatic case report is about a young male patient who developed acute psychosis within a few days of starting isotretinoin.
