In Houston currently preparing for the absolute worst case scenario: that we don't get any rain from this and I have to water my own dam lawn tomorrow.

The area it's hitting has a lot of trees and low lying areas so this one could be pretty nasty.

Not much going against her either until land interaction. Still intensifying and is about to go over water with even higher surface temps.

I’m in Oklahoma. The rest of the family are in Shreveport and Tyler Texas. My dad’s going to ride it out in LC which I’m worried about. He’s with a friend so at least he won’t be alone. We’re 15’ above sea level so this could get ugly.

does the house have an attack. you might want to tell your dad to bring an axe up there with him. you dont want to use a chainsaw as the fumes will mess you up something good.
he should have an evac plan of sorts. maybe even just take a bunch of food and water and drive to a parking garage somewhere and go to the middle of it near the elevators and a good 20' up at least. will be safe there.
thats what the storm chasers do

the eye is getting much more circular which means its maturing and continuing to strength. low relative humidity which means that there most likely wont be any eye wall replacement going on to hurt it a little.

To be fair, these things often draw a lot of attention up front and then dissipate before doing any real damage
